Things Jerry Says #20 – Who is its mother?
Here’s a new Things Jerry Says post for this week! If you are new here, “Things Jerry Says” is a series of conversational posts with Jerry, my first born. He has been getting really apt in his conversational skills and sometimes, says the weirdest and funniest things that throw us off. I document them down because I know this phase will soon pass and I want to retain these moments somewhere, so that someday, I can read some day and reminisce the times when he is growing up.
Today, we were playing pretend play with x.silly, a small cuddly pig that the husband gifted me many years back. X.silly is very something very dear to me and as my kids grow up, he has become a huge part of their lives. Each day, Jerry either plays with him or bring it to bed with him and there is seldom a day past without x.silly being mentioned.
So, Jerry was changing its diapers, washing its backside, its clothes, and then pretending x.silly fell down and injured himself. He then becomes the doctor and tried to heal/bandage him.. when he suddenly turned to me.
J (Jerry): Mummy! Mummy! Who is x.silly’s mummy?
M (mummy): Me lor. I am x.silly’s mummy!
J: Nooooooo….. You are not x.silly’s mummy…
M: I am. Who says I am not?
J: [looks at me straight in the eyes, index finger tapping on the tip of my nose repeatedly] YOU ARE NOT A PIG LAH!
I am totally, totally, amused and burst out laughing. And I thank god that my son doesn’t think I am a pig. Haha. Well, let’s just say he has keen observation and knows that humans have kids/babies instead of animals. Hilarious much.

p.s. I am well aware that I am speaking singlish to the kid here. I don’t condone singlish but I do think learning proper english is important and I do teach him the correct stuff. #justsaying
