Advertorials, Reviews & Events,  The J-brothers

Thing I love about the kids.

It’s been a long while since I document the kids’ milestones. There is just so much to observe and note down and with two kids, and things does get a little more hectic than I wished for. I was just checking back on the formal milestones for the kids I have written previously. Here’s Jerry’s 19th months (omg, he looked so different) and Jerome’s at 1 year old (he’s turning 2 yo soon!).

Somewhat bring tears to my eyes. Where have all my babies gone to?

Wanted to note down some tidbits of them at this point in time of their life, behaviours, things, or simply something about them that I want to remember them by. I know I haven’t been writing enough. They grow so fast!

My biggest monkey.
My biggest monkey.

I used to think I am quite a monkey. There is a chinese saying 一山还有一山高 (loosely translated as there will always be another higher mountain) and I think, he definitely surpasses me. Totally full of wit, funny ideas and does the funniest things ever.

Meet my little monkey, Jerry.

This kid, he has the wildest imagination. One moment he is an animal, the next moment, a robot. He role plays with his toys a lot and often talks to himself with the funniest conversations! He is currently talking non stop, asking all sorts of questions and spinning out note-worthy conversations that I wish I could document them all. I only managed to capture some.

Without our prompting, he has grown into a good brother to the younger kid. Toy-snatching and pushing still happens, but I am also seeing a lot of the food sharing, protective big brother side of him showing up a lot more. He often issues warning when didi is in danger or runs over and stretches out his hands to stop Jerome. It’s a very cute sight to watch! When daddy scolds didi, he will stand up for didi and defend for him. He loves to feed his little brother, and enjoys the novelty of it very much. I think it has got to do with the big fat grins that Jerome shows him in return. He sometimes, pats his little brother to sleep but never succeeds because they often end up playing.

I hope they grow up to be close to each other always and would look after each other’s back!

Jerry is turning into a little photographer.  He often fishes my camera out of my bag and starts snapping away. I think he has quite a flair for it because his pictures always turns out quite nice! Err, I think it is nicer than most of what the husb takes! Oops!

Don’t I look good here? Although the picture is a little out of focus, but I love how it turned out. And how it captured me so naturally.

This kid has got a fantastic memory too. He often requests for a donut when I kiss him goodbye every morning. 12-14 hours later, I meet him back home and he asks me for the donut. But that’s not all, he continues asking for the donut, every single day till he gets the donut and turns a happy kid. He has a persistently good memory can?! I can’t even pretend to not buy because he ALWAYS remember it! I should have learned from the story of the transformer trailer.

“Mummy, look at me!”
“I can do this!!”

I never see a kid with as much determination as Jerry. Once he sets his mind on something, he will not let it go.  He will either keep practicing something till he gets it, or he will go find someone to help him.

He demonstrates his determination all the time when we get to granduncle’s house. He loves using the picker to pick up all the pebbles in the  pond. He does it tirelessly all day, picking up the stones and then putting them back with the picker. It’s quite amazing to watch him week on week perfecting his skill.

Too cute to look at. He is often the entertainment of the household while at it.

Jerome, on the other hand, is really quite a different kid. He is a lot quieter in nature, and prefers to observe things and learn that way. He has keen observation skills and I am usually quite amazed at the things he does and display. Sometimes, I find it beyond his age to do the things he does. It might be due to having Jerry as a big brother but on most days, they actually don’t spend a lot of time together. They are split up during the week days between my mum and my mil so I believe that’s why their characters are slightly different.

One of his cutest habits. He will get into a lift and hold onto the handle bar instantly and goes, “Hoooold”. (p.s. I often try to withhold my brain when it screams “GERMMMMMS!”) He won’t let go till the lift door opens and it is our turn to get out. He has a total different personality from Jerry but totally charming at all times. He always fill my heart with the instant urge to hug him tight and not let go! It helps that he is like a squishy teddy bear, very nice to hug!

I love that he can entertain himself for hours and does a lot of quiet play by himself. He isn’t as needy, and does not constantly seek my attention. He is growing to do quite a lot of things himself, like trying to wear his clothes, taking it out, wearing his shoes. He doesn’t succeed all the time, but I am pretty sure he is going to get it right soon.

I think he might even be toilet trained earlier as compared to Jerry. He shouts for attention when he needs to poo and stand by the toilet door waiting for me to come and assist him. How cool is that?

He stand by the door or grab his shoes about 10 times a day asking to head out of the house. He love to be outdoors and exploring everything, which is why I am trying to bring the kids to the outdoors these days as compared to shopping malls.

I’m bias here but I love it when Jerome goes.. “Mama! Mama! Mama! Mameeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee”. Super cute and it melts my heart instantly. He makes me want to have a 3rd kid because he brings me so much joy, just by being himself.

You know how all the parents hate it when their kids throw tantrums. It is always a sight with tears and loud screaming or involves thrashing feet in the air. I love it when Jerome throw tantrums. Super cute to look at! Fold his arms, head bowed and walks away to a corner to stand. Makes. Me. Laugh. All. The. Time.

Just like that.

I don’t mind another kid like that. So easy to deal with, just stand around and laugh while waiting for him to come back. He’s such a happy happy kid. I must have clocked in some good karma to deserve him!

Jerome is pretty creative too! He doesn’t quite do things the way that is it supposed to be done, and usually have some out-of-the-box type of thinking.

Like how he lines up the toy trains on the rocking moose instead of all the wooden tracks. It’s really delightful to watch and find surprises like this randomly. He does this all the time, but I don’t happen to always capture the moment down in pictures. I blame my bad memory for not being able to remember all the details that happen on a daily basis.

He is also a water guzzler. He drinks a lot of water by himself daily, without needing to prompt. We usually put a bottle on the table within his reach and he periodically will drop whatever he is doing to drink some water. I like that I don’t quite need to force him to drink and that’s good because he tends to fall sick less often.

Can I just say, I feel totally blessed at this point of my life with my 2 boys? Nothing else quite matters because when the world collapses on me, I have my 2 little boys and husband to hang on to. And that’s really quite a handful already!

I wish that they both grow up to be great pals, and be very close to each other. I was never close to my brother in our growing up years, and it can sometimes be a little lonely on this journey of growing up. I hope they don’t ever get that and learn that nothing is better than kinship and brotherhood!

Hopefully, I get round to posting more stories about them more often. I really like reading what I have wrote previously because they are so precious. Meanwhile, could I get your eyes peeled on my blog for the next few days? I have LOADS OF EXCITING STUFF lined up to share, and I am so thankful for each and every one that happened to me. Thank you all for reading, and I cannot thank each and everyone of you enough for believing in me!

I wish you all a great weekend!!

Disclaimer: This is part of a series of sponsored post with Pumpkin Patch. My kids are lovingly clothed by them in this post and I seriously love the brand! Do note that not all clothing is of current season but there is always something nice to buy at the shops! All thoughts, opinions and cute kids are of my own.

Hi there! Thanks for popping by. I'm Cherie, a ftwm (full-time working mum) to 3 lovely kids (2 boys & a princess) and my motto in life is to BE HAPPY. Sure, life isn't all that smooth but it's the mentality that counts, no? This blog documents my life. Or rather, snippets of my life that has passed me by. I love capturing life memories in the blog and being able to read back and laugh at myself (or anyone). I love to eat (A LOT), travel and paint my own nails so the blog is mostly about that. Is that considered lifestyle? Of cos, the family is also very much an integral part of me so there would be loads of memories about the husband and my kids - Jerry (9yo), Jerome (7yo) and Leia (2.5yo) and everyone else that's close to me. I like documenting the kids' milestones, their growing up years, their achievements (and sometimes, mine), and my struggles and battles with motherhood. It sure ain't easy. I love seeking out good food and travelling, is trigger-happy, love new gadgets, love exploring new places and strives to live life to the fullest. I aspire to travel the world as much as I can, to soak in the different sights across the various continents and visit all the Disneylands in the world (almost there!). Have fun reading and do drop me a comment to say hi! Love, Cherie Lim Find me on Instagram.
