Things Jerry Says #24 – X.silly’s 6th Birthday

Here’s a secret I am going to share. A silly one. Der & I buy cakes to celebrate x.silly‘s birthday every year. It has been something that we have been doing ever since Der gifted me with x.silly. I think I shared before, but I can’t find any blog post on it. And yup, we love being silly like that.

So this year, it is the same. I bought a cake and Der happened to give me a ride home from the train station that day with the kids in tow. Jerry spied my bag cautiously..

Jerry (J): Mummy, what are you holding?
Mummy (M): It’s a cake for x.silly.
J: Why you buy a cake? Why you never buy me a donut?
M: It’s x.silly birthday! So I bought him a cake. Later when we reach home, we celebrate x.silly’s birthday ok?
J: It’s x.silly birthday ah. You buy him a cake ah..
M: Yes. Today is x.silly’s birthday. We’ll sing Happy Birthday to him later ok? Then we can blow the candles and eat the cake.
J: But mummy, x.silly is not…… real.
M: *taken aback by his reply* I know, but it’s ok. X.silly have a birthday and we can still help him celebrate right?
J: Hmmm… OK.
[5 seconds pause later]
J: Mummy, but x.silly got no mouth!! (to eat the cake).

I.. cannot believe my 3.5yo said that. And that he actually challenged me with his thoughts and what he thinks is correct. Amazing. He is really growing up huh. Nonetheless, he’s a great sport and went along with the celebrations any way.

Do you have anything silly to share with your other half? For me, its one of the little things that keeps the relationship going, or how we add sparks to our otherwise mundane lives. If you don’t mind, leave me a comment and share and maybe I can learn from you too!

If you have enjoyed this post, do hit a like or read more on the funny things Jerry says. I haven’t been blogging as often all week, but I’m struggling with solo parenting all week – the husband’s off to reservist, and my family is off to Japan without me. Be a little patience and I promise more posts coming up! I have so much to say, but can’t find time to sit in from of my laptop.

Otherwise, follow me on my facebook or Instagram for faster updates! And oh, don’t forget the giveaway on the blog. It’s the last day today!

Hi there! Thanks for popping by. I'm Cherie, a ftwm (full-time working mum) to 3 lovely kids (2 boys & a princess) and my motto in life is to BE HAPPY. Sure, life isn't all that smooth but it's the mentality that counts, no? This blog documents my life. Or rather, snippets of my life that has passed me by. I love capturing life memories in the blog and being able to read back and laugh at myself (or anyone). I love to eat (A LOT), travel and paint my own nails so the blog is mostly about that. Is that considered lifestyle? Of cos, the family is also very much an integral part of me so there would be loads of memories about the husband and my kids - Jerry (9yo), Jerome (7yo) and Leia (2.5yo) and everyone else that's close to me. I like documenting the kids' milestones, their growing up years, their achievements (and sometimes, mine), and my struggles and battles with motherhood. It sure ain't easy. I love seeking out good food and travelling, is trigger-happy, love new gadgets, love exploring new places and strives to live life to the fullest. I aspire to travel the world as much as I can, to soak in the different sights across the various continents and visit all the Disneylands in the world (almost there!). Have fun reading and do drop me a comment to say hi! Love, Cherie Lim Find me on Instagram.
