12.9.2013 The day we celebrate our wedding anniversary & wedding traditions

der helping to lay my long train beautifully, just before we enter the ballroom for our march-in 3 years ago.a few days ago, we celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary. Has it really been 3 years? Happy 3rd wedding anniversary to us!

Life has been really good. 3 years is neither short or long, but we have done so much, spent most days together (other than the days either of us is travelling), started our own family, built our own nest, and survived through squabbles and fights. and by fights, i meant pillow fights because we hardly, ever go to bed angry with each other. sure, it’s aint perfect.. but is the journey that all matters. the fun, the laughter, the joys and the sorrows that we will share on this journey of marriage together. and sure, we change. but we learn something new about each other every day, and i hope, we’ll have the commitment to do so till our hairs turn grey and our children leave the nest, because that’s when we’ll only have each other for company. Sharing this quote which i feel speaks truly of what i feel about marriage.

~ Henry Fordthere weren’t elaborate presents, nor were there flowers. by at the end of the day, all that really matters is having him for company. 🙂

what made this year kind of extra special, is that we finally ate a tiny slice of our actual wedding cake! Yes, we kept it frozen for the last 3 years. the plan was to follow the wedding tradition of keeping the wedding cake and savouring a slice of it every year on the wedding anniversary, for as long as we can. its supposed to symbolize long lasting marriage or something, but i see it more like a remembrance of our union, our marriage and remembering the love we shared between us. we didnt manage to do it the last 2 years because the cake was stored in my in-laws place and we never got near it somehow on our anniversary.

keeping to tradition, we finally ate the 3 year old cake!funny trivial. while i was cutting the cake and wondering how big a slice i should cut, the husband went, “one small slice can already, like that the cake can last longer!”. Totally made me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

and i figured you would want to know how to taste like. Hmmm.. sweet (its a fruit cake afterall), not as dry as i thought it would be, and a little chewy (prob from the dried fruits). But i only cut enough for us to each have a tiny bite so i can’t make much out if it!

p.s. i wouldn’t mind a bit if presents and flowers were added to the equation, just sayin’!

p.p.s. u should only try keeping the cake if its a traditional sugar laden fruit cake.
