iFLY.. I flew.. at iFLY Singapore! *Flights Giveaway alert*

ifly Singapore at Sentosa, siloso beach
iFly Singapore, located at Siloso Beach, Sentosa

I am very excited to craft this post about iFLY Singapore, because this is something so me, and something that i really really have been dying to do, and its even listed as no. 7 on my bucket list! Ok. Maybe not quite the real deal but very close! I am also equally excited to announce that i have a pair of flight tickets to give away at the end of the post!

In case you ain’t familiar with iFly Singapore, it’s the world’s largest (yes, you read that right!) indoor skydiving wind tunnel located at Siloso beach on Sentosa. The state-of-the-art wind tunnel allows anyone (first time flyers or the pros) an opportunity to fly with the perks of easy accessibility, safety and affordability. At a height of 56.5ft and a diameter of 16.5ft, the wind tunnel can accommodate up to 20 professional flyers at any one time. Pretty cool shit.

What’s even cooler is that they boast of 4 Guinness World Records. Its a mean feat to hold one, and they own 4! WOW.WOW.WOW. The 4 records are…

When i was first invited to their Christmas event on 4 Dec last year, i witnessed the first 2 Guinness World Records happening just right under my nose! Seriously, the fliers are so pro and they make it look effortless and easy! And oh, since its Christmas, there was Santa & Snowman flying too!

World record – watch Kyra Poh do 68 backward somersaults in one minute!

World record – Kyra Poh & Vernon Quek do 25 wind tunnel verticals in one minute!

Then, it’s Santa Claus turn to show off to Snow man in the wind tunnel at iFLY.

It’s pretty cool, isn’t it? Even the clumsy mascots can fly (even though they did have trouble getting through that tiny door), i guess almost everyone else can. Look what ifly has to say on their website.

ifly message - everyone can fly.
Anyone can fly.

Are you piqued? In case you are curious, here’s the flight criteria!

iFly Flight Criteria

  • If shorter than 180cm, weight limit is 120kg. If taller than 180cm, weight limit is 140kg. (Call them if you exceed the weight
  • 7 years old and above. (parents to note!)
  • Must be able to comfortably wear one of our helmets
  • Not pregnant
  • Have not previously dislocated your shoulder, or any history of back or neck injury, or heart problems
  • Not under the influence of alcohol or non-prescriptive drugs
  • Not wearing a plaster cast
  • Possess signed permission from a parent or guardian if under 18
  • Signed our waiver form
  • Flyer must bring Photo ID to check-in 90 mins prior to flight.

If you meet the flight criteria but is still hesitant, let me tell you… there is absolutely nothing to worry about. My girl friend, Estella has acrophobia and was also worried before she went.. but she totally loved the experience and wants to go again some time soon.

It is really really safe and no real danger at all as compared to the real skydiving. You aren’t required to jump off a plane and you start flying from the ground, so i guess its kinda cool because it still feels like the real deal (or so i heard). Here’s more facts about ifly that i thought its pretty interesting.

  • The stainless stell elastic net at the base of the wind tunnel is strong enough to hold 2 adult elephants (or 200 people of 100kg each)
  • iFly Singapore boasts a training team of 15 certified instructors, and iFly have invested more than SGD 1 million to ensure their instructors are the best of breed.
  • The tunnel design has an accident rate of ZERO (very comforting to know!)

Of course there are more stuff, but im not gonna bore you. I shall share my “flying” experience now! I put everything into a video so do pardon my amateur video editing skills.

Realized the music went missing halfway (!) but i guess im too lazy to re-edit it. (p.s. my flight starts at the 1-min mark).

Happiness is indoor sky diving at iFly Singapore.

It’s such a exhilarating experience, i so wanna go again! Oh, by the way.. here’s some tips from me!

  1. You require quite a bit of core muscles to hold yourself in place, so it’s not really as easy as it looks.
  2. Keep your chin up and keep the mouth close. Keep your mouth open and you’ll have a face full of your own saliva!
  3. Try not to control the wind, but let the wind control you instead (makes sense?)
  4. Each session consist of 2 flights of 90secs. You can opt for an additional flight while you are still in the tunnel at a discounted rate (i think its $30). Totally worth it and go for it.
A certificate is issued upon “graduation”!

I flew. So can you. Its really nice. It’s really really nice. And here’s your chance.

Disclaimer: I was invited as media to attend the iFly Anniversary Party in december 2013 and given a pair of iFly flight tickets to trial. I additionally requested for a pair to be given away to my readers too! No monetary compensation have been received and all opinions and comments are of my own.

Hi there! Thanks for popping by. I'm Cherie, a ftwm (full-time working mum) to 3 lovely kids (2 boys & a princess) and my motto in life is to BE HAPPY. Sure, life isn't all that smooth but it's the mentality that counts, no? This blog documents my life. Or rather, snippets of my life that has passed me by. I love capturing life memories in the blog and being able to read back and laugh at myself (or anyone). I love to eat (A LOT), travel and paint my own nails so the blog is mostly about that. Is that considered lifestyle? Of cos, the family is also very much an integral part of me so there would be loads of memories about the husband and my kids - Jerry (9yo), Jerome (7yo) and Leia (2.5yo) and everyone else that's close to me. I like documenting the kids' milestones, their growing up years, their achievements (and sometimes, mine), and my struggles and battles with motherhood. It sure ain't easy. I love seeking out good food and travelling, is trigger-happy, love new gadgets, love exploring new places and strives to live life to the fullest. I aspire to travel the world as much as I can, to soak in the different sights across the various continents and visit all the Disneylands in the world (almost there!). Have fun reading and do drop me a comment to say hi! Love, Cherie Lim Find me on Instagram.
