Photography Class with Canon at Fidgets! #myfamilywcanon

About a month ago, the team from Canon Singapore invited the family for a fun day at Fidgets. There were arts and craft classes, and baking classes arranged for the kids but both Jerry & Jerome were kinda too young to be left alone or attend the class so we simply let them loose in Fidgets and have them run around the indoor playground for some fun under our watchful eyes. The adults, we got to learn some photography tips from ex photojournalist, Ah Bob the Jiuhukia (read the end of the entry for the tips!).

It was our first time in Fidgets, simply because it was so far away from us (the other side of the island) and that our weekly schedules are kind of packed with enough activities to keep the kids and us busy. Oh my, the place is HUGE! And I don’t believe I explored it all. There was a huge toddler section with its own ball pit, loads of cute vehicles to ride on, cones and all. My 2 kids just went mad running around the entire space and riding on all sorts of cars and bikes.

Seriously. Spoilt for choice.

We also brought the kids over to the section meant for older kids and they had quite a blast! I discovered that Jerome is pretty strong and can scale great heights all by himself!

The kids had a lot of fun and we were sweating out from the workout of chasing after them. The thing about indoor playgrounds that I don’t really like is the navigation of all the tight corners and trying to squeeze through tiny holes while chasing after your kids and then feeling totally breathless thereafter. When the kid had their share of fun, we adults got down to some fun photography business!

This is probably the most fun photography class that I have attended, and seen many many lovely pictures of Bob’s son and the many wonderful angles that he takes of the same situation that all tells the same, yet different story. His pictures made me think.

I had to giggle to myself when he shared about his family member scolding him when he is still snapping away while his kid has fallen and bleeding. I am the same too, on the day Jerry fell and cut his lip, banged his head, and flew down the stairs and the day Jerome became Harry Potter. Am I normal? I constantly think that every memory is worth a capture, and so long my sons are not on the brink of death and immediate danger, taking a couple of pictures really don’t do much harm. I love taking pictures of my kids and I know I am far from doing a great job so I’m so glad to be at the event.

Here’s Ah Bob’s photography tips in shooting children, as simple as ABCDE!

A: Angle

B Bokeh

C: Continuos Mode

D: Distance and Details

E: Exposure

and F – Z? Just keep on shooting! He shared about all the pictures that he has shot and the ONE picture that he thought was nice. I thought it was just me that shoot thousands of pictures to get 1 nice one.. Bob the photographer do the same thing too! Curious, does professional photographers do the same?

The husband shared that he enjoyed this event thoroughly and that he learnt quite a few things! I secretly think the fact that Bob is very affable and friendly and speaks in bits of English, Mandarin and Hokkien makes the husband very at ease. Totally love this #myfamilywcanon event and looking forward to more! Thanks for the invitation, Claudia!

Disclaimer: We were invited by Canon for the event at Fidgets and received no form of compensation except an afternoon of fun and laughter and food along with other fellow mom and daddy bloggers. By the way, the kids are lovingly clothed in Pumpkin Patch in this post, and I’m loving the cool clothes they have!

Hi there! Thanks for popping by. I'm Cherie, a ftwm (full-time working mum) to 3 lovely kids (2 boys & a princess) and my motto in life is to BE HAPPY. Sure, life isn't all that smooth but it's the mentality that counts, no? This blog documents my life. Or rather, snippets of my life that has passed me by. I love capturing life memories in the blog and being able to read back and laugh at myself (or anyone). I love to eat (A LOT), travel and paint my own nails so the blog is mostly about that. Is that considered lifestyle? Of cos, the family is also very much an integral part of me so there would be loads of memories about the husband and my kids - Jerry (9yo), Jerome (7yo) and Leia (2.5yo) and everyone else that's close to me. I like documenting the kids' milestones, their growing up years, their achievements (and sometimes, mine), and my struggles and battles with motherhood. It sure ain't easy. I love seeking out good food and travelling, is trigger-happy, love new gadgets, love exploring new places and strives to live life to the fullest. I aspire to travel the world as much as I can, to soak in the different sights across the various continents and visit all the Disneylands in the world (almost there!). Have fun reading and do drop me a comment to say hi! Love, Cherie Lim Find me on Instagram.
