Shape Run 2017 – Our 3rd 1.8KM Family Run with Skechers!

By |August 19th, 2017|

The Shape Run has somewhat become special and iconic for us as a family. We have been participating every year since my Jerome is still a baby in a stroller. He is now a 4.5yo and finishes the run by himself with gusto. How far we have come!

This year is our 3rd 1.8km Family Run. Read about our previous 1.8km family runs in 2016 & 2015. The boys were super excited once they knew about it. They even know the drill when we picked up our Skechers shoes from the store and has been really excited about getting medals for their race. I know, strange motivation they have there (must be my ex-athlete genes).  They have also grown to be quite different individuals now, so I wasn’t too surprised that they each picked a pair of shoes of their own liking.

The chill one vs the cheeky […]

It’s the week of school holidays! Still not sure where to bring your kids to or haven’t started planning? I would totally recommend Disney On Ice! The Wonderful World of Disney on Ice in here in Singapore and runs from 15 – 19 March 2017 for 10 performances at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. Don’t miss it!

My boys caught their first Disney On Ice performance this week! They have been so excited and have been asking me to bring them to the show after watching the advertisements on TV. Big thanks to the team at Disney on Ice, the boys are now able to make their wishes come true!

They have been so excited about it and kept asking me every day if that day was the day we were going to […]

Hello! It’s been a while since I last sat myself down to blog. Life’s been busy – travels, work, and I recently picked up brush calligraphy and the piano! I hope to blog about all that soon, so do check back ok? I am still living life to the fullest and clocking in all sorts of experiences and it’s been pretty awesome so far.

Last week, the Choo Family was in the Shape Run! The kids were all psyched with the race ever since they received their new Skechers shoes some weeks back from the Skechers store in Ngee Ann City

The Live Turtle and Tortoise Museum we go!

By |August 28th, 2015|

The National Day long weekend was such a treat, and I can’t believe we are already at month end! We visited The Live Turtle and Tortoise Museum located at The Chinese Garden over the long weekend. Quite an eye-opener I must say! If you are looking for some activity to do this weekend, maybe this could be it!

I had initially wanted to bring the boys to Kusu Island, but dropped the idea when I realised there isn’t a direct ferry to the island. So, we went to The Chinese Garden instead because I have read about the tortoise museum and have always wanted to visit.

I think I haven’t visited The Chinese Garden since I was a kid! Love how the feel of the place somewhat transports us to another country. It was a really hot morning, but the boys were all running around, happy to explore and check out […]

Easter Eggstravaganza at Universal Studios Singapore

By |April 2nd, 2015|

We brought the kids & my nephew to hunt for some easter eggs over the school holidays weekend. Easter is one of those holidays that I really look forward to every year because I really, really like chocolate eggs and they are only available during this time of the year! Now that Universal Studios is having Easter Eggstravaganza (nice pun), it is a perfect time to visit Resort World Sentosa and be eggcited over eggs! Sorry, couldn’t resist!

So what’s the eggciting easter about, you’ll ask? Loads of eggs to hunt down, loads of rabbit ears to pull at (I’m joking at the pulling part) and special shows to catch. Even the entrance of the USS has been brightened up with loads of flowers and colourful eggs. The eggs are aplenty, and hidden at almost every corner of the park! Quite a cheery sight!

Eggs, Eggs, […]

Happy Chinese New Year!

By |February 26th, 2015|

Here’s wishing you a Happy Chinese New Year from my family to yours! I know this should have been done like 8 days ago, but I have been diligent..

Diligent in spending time with the family, connecting with the people that matter. Spending time with myself, doing the things I enjoy most. Diligent in letting some things go, chill, sit back and really relax. And, sleep early.

It’s hasn’t been easy, making a  deliberate change to my lifestyle and not touch my computer that much. But can I share that it has been liberating? I have done so much in the past few weeks that I suddenly feel like I am actually living my life again, and not going through the motions and waiting for one day to end and another to start.

2015 somewhat started out to be a purposeful one. I started […]

Something that I want to remember about my Grandpa.

By |February 10th, 2015|

Today, in the midst of being a buzzing bee at work. I saw an email popped in titled “Chinese New Year” by my uncle.

The family will be popping in from different parts of the world to celebrate this occasion as usual, so I wondered what the email is about. As I glanced through the details… I held my breath and read the following message. Some parts were truncated (likely because it was coded in chinese), but here’s what I could read.

I really like you to tell me to go home date.

Because I can not eat something too salty.

So no need to bring too much smoked salmon

iPad

My grandpa sending an email to my uncle in halting english, asking about the dates that they will be home. Awwww..

My family was cc-ed in my uncle’s reply so I saw the email too. It just made my day. Knowing that my century old […]

My 3yo & Chinese Chess.

By |February 1st, 2015|

Jerry pulled out my chinese chess set from my cupboard that’s filled with loads of card and board games 3 nights ago. And he bugged me for more than 15 mins to play it with him.

Just how do you play Chinese chess with a 3yo? A game that involves recognising the different characters, the various moves each make and the strategy behind the game? And he, for now, someone that can’t even recognise a single Chinese character yet? I tried explaining that the game is too difficult, and that its really meant for papa & mama but he wouldn’t take no for an answer and kept telling me, “Play with me!!”. I was on the verge of taking the game away from him and telling him “NO!” straight in his face when I remembered that one of my 2015 plans was to spend more time with the kids, and […]

Things Jerry Says #24 – X.silly’s 6th Birthday

By |December 11th, 2014|

Here’s a secret I am going to share. A silly one. Der & I buy cakes to celebrate x.silly‘s birthday every year. It has been something that we have been doing ever since Der gifted me with x.silly. I think I shared before, but I can’t find any blog post on it. And yup, we love being silly like that.

So this year, it is the same. I bought a cake and Der happened to give me a ride home from the train station that day with the kids in tow. Jerry spied my bag cautiously..

Jerry (J): Mummy, what are you holding?
Mummy (M): It’s a cake for x.silly.
J: Why you buy a cake? Why you never buy me a donut?
M: It’s x.silly birthday! So I bought him a cake. Later when we reach home, we celebrate x.silly’s birthday ok?
J: It’s x.silly birthday ah. You buy him […]

Where we stay in Bangkok – Tune Hotel

By |November 23rd, 2014|

I am going to share about Tune Hotel, Asoke today. It is the hotel that I stayed in during my recent family trip to Bangkok, Thailand. I have stayed in quite a few hotels in Bangkok, but mostly the full service, more expensive hotels. Not because I am atas okay. Some trips’ accommodation were not booked by me. Other times, it was mostly to suit everyone’s expectations and requests.

I’m easy when it comes to hotels on travel trips. I can accept anything that comes with a decent bed and toilet in the room! Com’on. I usually don’t spend a lot of time in the hotel when I am overseas anyway. It is just a place to sleep/rest and shower since I will be out and about most of the time so the bed and the toilet are the most important things in the room. Nothing else matters, really. Oh, and […]
