dedicated to pei

there are many fond memories that i have of you girl. as well as many heart wrenching ones. but i am glad that we have stuck out as friends for such a long time and here, i dedicate my thoughts for your memory and mine.

you are that girl..

you are that girl whom i first met during the sec school orientation wearing maroon-colored culottes (or rather it should be skorts, as unpolished_gem just educated me) and became my first friend.

you are that girl with cute fringe, long pigtails and a huge nose for your (then) face.

you are that girl, whom we quickly became the best of friends.

you are that girl, whom i find it fascinating cos you had a twin sister.

you are that girl, whom i accompanied you to your primary school (st. nic) on teacher’s day to give your fav teacher a pressie.

you are that girl, whom make me feel that i am fortunate cos i had a room all to myself, while u had to share with 3 other sisters while u were young.

you are that girl, whom became the monitress cos your registration number was 1.

you are that girl, with the special surname aw.. that then i never had heard of.

you are that girl, who kept urging me to join you in st. john as an eca cos you felt that being able to save people and know first aid is such a great thing.

you are that girl, whom collected my eca form and abused your authority as a monitress and secretly changed my no. 1 choice from athletics to st john and putting athletics as my no. 2 choice, pushing my table tennis dream out of the picture completely.

you are that girl, whom upsetted me when i found out i couldnt play table tennis and am stuck in st john forever cos my school had a stupid rule about not being allowed to quit the eca once your name is on the list.

you are that lucky girl, who crushed my table tennis dreams in completing in the nationals at secondary level but am very lucky that i couldnt push the blame on you cos there wasnt enough female players in the school anyway.

you are also that lucky girl, cos i did manage to get into athletics as well even though i had to juggle between 2 core ecas and had the in-charges fighting for me on saturdays for training.

you are that girl, whom never made me regret ever being part of st john with you cos of all the fun we had.

you are that girl, who came to my rescue when i collapsed right after i crossed the finishing line at our school’s cross country the week after i had chicken pox.

you are one of those girls, whom tried to pacify and ease my saddness when i was upset i came in 2nd in the race.

you are the girl, whom seen me through each and every guy that i have been with, and been there to hear me complain, wail to, and tell my darkest secrets.

you are the girl, who was there to receive me when we were at chung cheng high school doing the first aid mock thingy, running with 3 other fit guys, carrying a super FAT AND HUGE casualty on a stretcher pronounced as dead!

you are the girl, whose house i always hang out with cos i simply adore being with you and remembering the details of that house till this very day.

you are the girl, who talked to me on the phone almost every other night while we were in sec school.

you are the girl, whom rid me of my shyness character and made me the outspoken person i am today.

you are the girl, who had loads of identical bags/clothes/shoes as me cos we are always together (buying the same stuff together too!)

you are the girl, whom affected my decision in heading for temasek poly instead of ngee ann (against my mum’s wishes!) even though i fought hard to gain a place in ngee ann.

you are the girl, who first bought me out to party at zouk.

you are the girl, whom i was partying with almost every other day afterwards for a year.

you are the girl, whom we went to sign up for riding lesson together even though you got your licence for 5 years now and i never attended my first practical.

you are the girl, whom broke my heart and caused me to tear when i found out u were smoking one day.

you are the girl, who painstakingly made an effort not to smoke in front of me when u knew i would be very upset.

you are the girl, whom made me sad when i accidentally found out the stuff you do/wear as a dancer.

you are the girl, whom i tried to protect when i hear friends making negative comments of you as a dancer.

you are the girl, who did many things that i did not approve but made me accept you still cos u are so dear to me.

you are the girl, who changed my mindset about many things and made me the person i am today.

you are the girl, who i will always buy something for when i travel overseas.

you are the girl, who thinks of me each time you travel too. (*wink wink*)

you are the girl, who i hardly meet up with, yet feel so close too.

you are the girl, whom i gave a pair of hamsters to, especially handpicked a hamster cage for, and deliver them to your house even tho you weren’t home.

you are the girl, whose humourous laughter is infectious

you are that witty girl, who never fails to surprise me with the things you say.

you are the girl, with determination so strong that i truly admire.

you are that super girl, who can juggle a full time job, full time school and hold 2 other part time jobs at the same time.

you are the girl, who is still very close to my heart now.

you are the girl, who i never want to lose.

you are the girl, that i definitely want as a bridemaid when i get married.

girl, best of friends always ya?

Oops. i got to sleep now.

Hi there! Thanks for popping by. I'm Cherie, a ftwm (full-time working mum) to 3 lovely kids (2 boys & a princess) and my motto in life is to BE HAPPY. Sure, life isn't all that smooth but it's the mentality that counts, no? This blog documents my life. Or rather, snippets of my life that has passed me by. I love capturing life memories in the blog and being able to read back and laugh at myself (or anyone). I love to eat (A LOT), travel and paint my own nails so the blog is mostly about that. Is that considered lifestyle? Of cos, the family is also very much an integral part of me so there would be loads of memories about the husband and my kids - Jerry (9yo), Jerome (7yo) and Leia (2.5yo) and everyone else that's close to me. I like documenting the kids' milestones, their growing up years, their achievements (and sometimes, mine), and my struggles and battles with motherhood. It sure ain't easy. I love seeking out good food and travelling, is trigger-happy, love new gadgets, love exploring new places and strives to live life to the fullest. I aspire to travel the world as much as I can, to soak in the different sights across the various continents and visit all the Disneylands in the world (almost there!). Have fun reading and do drop me a comment to say hi! Love, Cherie Lim Find me on Instagram.

    For my most beloved fren..

There are also many memories in me of you, the bad ones have been buried and shall never be dug up again, and the numerous touching and memorable ones sits in a memory chip embedded deep inside my brain cells…Just to list a few worth-mentioning ones dedicated especially to u…

U are that girl whom i could click the instant we knew each other during Sec 1 orientation… the girl whom i tot had quite ugly hair at a bit tomboyish at that time….but was very active and lively compared to the quiet and shy me…

U are that girl, whom my mom and sisters remembers till now…

U are that girl, whom i tot lead a good and carefree life coz ur mom did not control u like mine do…later to realise there’s sadness and loneliness during ur childhood …

U are that girl, who i shared and gone through the fun and torture together during our training as a junior in sjab… later our pride and joy after getting a 3rd place (if i remember correctly) for our 1st First Aid/Home Nursing Competition and during our days as senior cum mentor to the junior sjab cadets…

U are that girl, who always came across as stern and hard-hearted whenever u were the training NCO in sjab but deep down i know that’s only a diff side of u that u need to show becoz of your role..

U are that girl, who never had to do first-aid duty during our school and inter-school’s cross-country races.
U are that girl, who i always lookout for and hoping u are the first lady to appear at the finishing point during our school’s cross country races.

U are the girl, whose house i have been to the most no. of times amongst all my friends.
U are the girl, who transformed into a pretty chick since hair straightening and rebonding was invented.
U are also the ‘Maggie Cheung’ look-alike girl, with that sexy thin lips and charming eyes.

U are the girl, who was so sociable and easy-going, could click with everyone of my friends and became my partying ‘kaki’ during my ‘chionging’ days …remember our Summer Rain and Square Rooms?? Hee…

U are the girl, whom i always tot of when it comes to sports or even extreme sports…coz u were always so sporty and energetic.

U are the girl, who didnt mind me and stayed by my side even when i started dancing.

U are also the girl, whom i always buy a gift for whenver i travel …and vice versa too (*wink wink back)

U are the girl, when we fail to keep each other up to date or meet up often, is still the one i think of sharing my joy and worries with.

U are the “mother”, whose hamsters given to me 2 years ago had passed away and started my liking for hamster as a pet.
U are the girl, whom i admire for the love and devotion u give to your loved ones.

U are the girl, who has also seen me through each and every guy that i have been with… and that will happen till my final and last love..

U are the girl, that i definitely want as a bridemaid as well (let’s see who gets married 1st then).
U are the girl, lady and woman next time… who is and will be my dearest in my heart.

And the list goes on…. but you are and will always be the one with that special memory chip in my brain who will share my ups and downs, see me walk down the aisle holding on to my husdand in my wedding, age together (hopefully not! but we have to accept that fact), start our own families and our kids will be the best of friends too…
Cheers to our everlasting friendship! *Toast*!
