Conversations with the husband #19 – I don’t need your opinion.
[Update: 2 Aug 2020 – Found a draft post dated exactly 4 years ago, and thought, might as well post it anyway.] Shopping with hubby on my birthday. Hubby was trying to be sweet and asked if I needed him to stay around while I shopped. I said no. He said, but I can offer you my opinions on the garments. I said, I actually don’t need the opinions.. I just need the money to pay. If you have the money to spare, you may stay. Husband scoots off immediately. Hahahah! Thanks husband, that’s *really* sweet of you.

The story behind Leia’s name.
Leia. I get a lot of questions on her name…”Why Leia?” Guess it is apt that I dedicate a blog post on why we chose the name. After having 2 boys with names starting with “J” (Jerry & Jerome), I guess everyone expects the baby’s name to start with a “J” like my boys. Maybe something like a Jasmine, Jolene, Jacqueline, Jerlyn or something. Which reminds me, I never really documented the reason why my boys’ names started with “J”. So, before I unravel the reason behind the name Leia… maybe I should share how we got started with names starting with a “J”. I shared this many times in…

Things Jerry Says #32 – Mummy is more important…
So, it’s the long weekend that everyone is looking forward to! I have been so busy, I haven’t planned what to do with it yet. We visited the National Gallery and checked out the much raved about Children Biennale 2017 and also the exhibition of my one of the artists I really like – Yayoi Kusama (totally worth visiting!). And oh, Jerry wanted to visit the library.. which we forgot to, and when we realised, it was too late. So, the conversation happened while we were driving home.. I was negotiating on pushing the library trip to the next morning, and the kid decided to add on more to the…

Things Jerry Says #31 – Wasabi No-Ginger has got a special sticker.
2017 really flew by! I thought we just crossed CNY and now it’s almost mid year. Hello month of MAY! Jerry turned 6 years old yesterday (already?!) and we brought him out after his school birthday celebration to pick a toy. I actually bought him a phone for his birthday (yes, I actually did!), but I guess the thrill of actually picking a toy personally is still fun. He had a nice and enjoyable dinner at Nandos (he wanted chicken rice and I wasn’t willing to go to a coffee shop/hawker or actually eat chicken rice), and had fun shopping for his present(s). He came home happy with a Wasabi…

Things Jerry Says #30 – Must buy!
Happy 2017 and Happy Chinese New Year to all of you… if you are still reading my blog! I am not blogging as often as I would like to, but today.. i needed to blog this down pronto. Jerry. He is turning 6 years old in 4 months and he loves reading and spelling (!). Or I think he does because he has been acing his spelling test every single week for 2016 in school. Am so proud of him actually. He can read by himself most of the time, off food labels, street signs and story books so I have also delegated the story book reading to him whenever…

Things Jerome Says #1
I thought I have done a post on the things Jerome says, but apparently not. I am really tardy to update his progress, but mainly because they are so grown now and so aware of their surroundings (yes, including their pictures appearing on ipads/phones etc). In just 7 days, Jerome turns 4 years old. The speed time flies amazes me sometimes. SO, needless to say, Jerome is… no longer the blabbering toddler that he is. Just the other day, he told me something camouflaged itself which is why we can’t see it. I forgot what the conversation was about, but I remember stopping myself on my tracks and asking myself…

Things Jerry Says #29 – Help me with the sticker.
Hello. I’m back here again. My blog has become a forgotten friend, it seems. In between, I have been busy with work (what’s new), training for a trekking trip in Nepal, doing the actual short trekking trip (my first!), training for a Spartan race, and then completing the Spartan race. I came back home today, tired, aching and badly bruised with battles scars to tell a story, but that’s the story for another day. Amidst all these, my boy has slowly grown in many ways that I seemed to have failed to notice. This evening (while I just got home), he was asking for a piece of paper to draw…

Conversations with the husband #17 – Just telling you only.
It’s been more than a year since I wrote about a conversation with the husband. It is not that the conversations are not happening, more like I am too tired and lazy to write them down. This morning, while we were having breakfast at our dining table… Me: Hey, I am going to Korea with my colleagues next May. Hmm, the exact dates are 13 – 21 May. Husband: *shows a smirk* Me: What? Husband: Next year, I am getting the AP diver watch. Me: Huh? That’s so random. Husband: No ah, just telling you only… (laughs). My trip is happening in 2 weeks and I haven’t even plan yet.…

Things Jerry say #28 – Ah! I know!
So Jerome has been rather expressive and talks a lot more fluently lately. It is somewhat a joy to hear him speak in proper sentences and explaining himself at times.. Last night, a hilarious exchange happened. Jerome had a bag of bread bits which he treats like a bag of treasure. This kid loves his food and is forever eating non stop. One moment, the bag was full and the next moment, he has only 2 pieces left.. Jerome: Mummy! I got 2 pieces left. One for you and one for me. Mummy: Oh, that’s very nice of you. Thank you! Jerome: *Flashes a smile and goes on with doing his stuff* I headed…

Things Jerry Says #27 – Mummy, can we buy this?
I haven’t updated a conversational series for a long time. Life’s been pretty packed and the Choo family is currently fighting a viral attack so we are all down with fever, cold, vomiting and all. Pretty sad to be down over the festive season, but I am sure we’ll all be back healthy to face 2016! So, Jerry has been very familiar with the concept of “buying things” now. Each time I leave the car for work, he will always end it with a question of “Mummy, can you buy me X toy?”. Of cos, it is always met with a “No” with most days. I can’t be buying toys…
