Things Jerry Says #32 – Mummy is more important…
So, it’s the long weekend that everyone is looking forward to! I have been so busy, I haven’t planned what to do with it yet. We visited the National Gallery and checked out the much raved about Children Biennale 2017 and also the exhibition of my one of the artists I really like – Yayoi Kusama (totally worth visiting!). And oh, Jerry wanted to visit the library.. which we forgot to, and when we realised, it was too late. So, the conversation happened while we were driving home.. I was negotiating on pushing the library trip to the next morning, and the kid decided to add on more to the…

Things Jerry Says #31 – Wasabi No-Ginger has got a special sticker.
2017 really flew by! I thought we just crossed CNY and now it’s almost mid year. Hello month of MAY! Jerry turned 6 years old yesterday (already?!) and we brought him out after his school birthday celebration to pick a toy. I actually bought him a phone for his birthday (yes, I actually did!), but I guess the thrill of actually picking a toy personally is still fun. He had a nice and enjoyable dinner at Nandos (he wanted chicken rice and I wasn’t willing to go to a coffee shop/hawker or actually eat chicken rice), and had fun shopping for his present(s). He came home happy with a Wasabi…

Things Jerry Says #30 – Must buy!
Happy 2017 and Happy Chinese New Year to all of you… if you are still reading my blog! I am not blogging as often as I would like to, but today.. i needed to blog this down pronto. Jerry. He is turning 6 years old in 4 months and he loves reading and spelling (!). Or I think he does because he has been acing his spelling test every single week for 2016 in school. Am so proud of him actually. He can read by himself most of the time, off food labels, street signs and story books so I have also delegated the story book reading to him whenever…

Things Jerry Says #29 – Help me with the sticker.
Hello. I’m back here again. My blog has become a forgotten friend, it seems. In between, I have been busy with work (what’s new), training for a trekking trip in Nepal, doing the actual short trekking trip (my first!), training for a Spartan race, and then completing the Spartan race. I came back home today, tired, aching and badly bruised with battles scars to tell a story, but that’s the story for another day. Amidst all these, my boy has slowly grown in many ways that I seemed to have failed to notice. This evening (while I just got home), he was asking for a piece of paper to draw…

Things Jerry say #28 – Ah! I know!
So Jerome has been rather expressive and talks a lot more fluently lately. It is somewhat a joy to hear him speak in proper sentences and explaining himself at times.. Last night, a hilarious exchange happened. Jerome had a bag of bread bits which he treats like a bag of treasure. This kid loves his food and is forever eating non stop. One moment, the bag was full and the next moment, he has only 2 pieces left.. Jerome: Mummy! I got 2 pieces left. One for you and one for me. Mummy: Oh, that’s very nice of you. Thank you! Jerome: *Flashes a smile and goes on with doing his stuff* I headed…

Things Jerry Says #27 – Mummy, can we buy this?
I haven’t updated a conversational series for a long time. Life’s been pretty packed and the Choo family is currently fighting a viral attack so we are all down with fever, cold, vomiting and all. Pretty sad to be down over the festive season, but I am sure we’ll all be back healthy to face 2016! So, Jerry has been very familiar with the concept of “buying things” now. Each time I leave the car for work, he will always end it with a question of “Mummy, can you buy me X toy?”. Of cos, it is always met with a “No” with most days. I can’t be buying toys…

Things Jerry Says #26 – Knock knock, Who’s there?
It’s been a LONG time since I last posted a “conversation” series post. It’s not that the kids haven’t been saying anything funny or worth recording, but I have been so busy in the past months that I never got round to doing it… and I can’t remember those conversations anymore. Regrets that a full-time working mum has to deal with. So, last week, I came home one night really late (midnight) and was lazy to fish out my keys when I saw the living room light on. I knocked at the door and here’s what happened! Mummy (M): *knock knock* Hears a commotion in the house with the…

Things Jerry Says #25 – About sickness and death.
April is the month where Qing Ming Festival (Tomb-sweeping day) happens. Each year, tonnes of people make their way to clean up tombs of loved ones or make trips to pay respects and offerings within the month of April. On one of those weekends, the husband went to pay his respects to his grandpa. He left the kids with my mum because my mum didn’t want the very young kids to go near cemeteries and columbariums. I was stuck at home as I have been really quite sick the entire month and was told to stay home to rest. Just as Der was leaving my mum’s place, this conversation happened. Jerry (J):…

Things Jerry Says #24 – X.silly’s 6th Birthday
Here’s a secret I am going to share. A silly one. Der & I buy cakes to celebrate x.silly‘s birthday every year. It has been something that we have been doing ever since Der gifted me with x.silly. I think I shared before, but I can’t find any blog post on it. And yup, we love being silly like that. So this year, it is the same. I bought a cake and Der happened to give me a ride home from the train station that day with the kids in tow. Jerry spied my bag cautiously.. Jerry (J): Mummy, what are you holding? Mummy (M): It’s a cake for x.silly. J:…

Things Jerry Says #23 – He is not a real policemen.
It has been a really busy week for me at work, and I have been making myself turn up at the office much earlier. Work has been fun and I kinda like that I am doing a happy-busy these days. So glad the week is almost coming to an end soon! Did anyone realize that the year is coming to an end soon too? We are down to the last 2 months of the year! Here’s a short post for the week, sorry for the silence! I was in a mall, going to pick up some groceries and had Jerry with me. He was trying to play punk and run…
