Goodbye 2017, and hello there 2018!

By |January 1st, 2018|

I have officially neglected my blog! In 2017, I have published a grand total of….7 blog posts! Not exactly proud of it, but 2017 has been a relatively interesting year. I started the year with grand plans of achieving a lot – travel and fitness wise.. but as fate would have it. None of it sorta materialised.

First up, one of my first goals for 2017 was to attain a Spartan Trifecta, having closed 2016 with a Spartan race in Bintan. I only managed 1 pathetic race in the entire 2017, in Semenyih, Malaysia, with a fever to boot while at it. I was coughing for months before the race, and almost didn’t make it, but I did. But I still wasn’t well enough for the 2nd race that rolled along and everyone around me told me not to be crazy to attempt it. And, eventually, I just wasn’t cut for […]

Where we stay in Bangkok – Tune Hotel

By |November 23rd, 2014|

I am going to share about Tune Hotel, Asoke today. It is the hotel that I stayed in during my recent family trip to Bangkok, Thailand. I have stayed in quite a few hotels in Bangkok, but mostly the full service, more expensive hotels. Not because I am atas okay. Some trips’ accommodation were not booked by me. Other times, it was mostly to suit everyone’s expectations and requests.

I’m easy when it comes to hotels on travel trips. I can accept anything that comes with a decent bed and toilet in the room! Com’on. I usually don’t spend a lot of time in the hotel when I am overseas anyway. It is just a place to sleep/rest and shower since I will be out and about most of the time so the bed and the toilet are the most important things in the room. Nothing else matters, really. Oh, and […]

The Choos goes to Bangkok on AirAsia!

By |November 14th, 2014|

Its my 2nd trip to Bangkok this year (first bkk trip here), but I cannot be more excited. Because, I am lugging with me 2 Bangkok virgins! Can you believe it? Der has NEVER stepped foot into Bangkok ever, and of cos not Jerry. So I was super excited to show them around. It’s been a while since Jerry took a plane too. His last trip was to Hong Kong, and that was when Jerome was still in my stomach! We haven’t been travelling much with 2 kids at all. Truth is, its really not easy trying to handle 2 toddlers with just us two…(at their age!). The husband can really only handle 1 while travelling.

I do travel quite a bit, and is usually fuss free when I am travelling alone. Today, I am going to share with you some […]

Jerry goes KidZania Bangkok!

By |November 13th, 2014|

We just came back from Bangkok, and the highlight of which is bringing Jerry to KidZania. I unfortunately fell prey to food poisoning after I got back and spent the whole the last 2 days in bed, totally weak and in extreme agony. Funny how I was okay with all the street food, but on the last day, I ate in restaurants and fast food and I fell sick from that!  I am suspecting that particular sushi joint that I ate in.

Anyhow, back to KidZania Bangkok. Do you know that it is one of the 2 KidZanias nearest to Singapore? The other one is in Kuala Lumpur. If you haven’t already heard, KidZania Singapore is opening on our very own shores next year, at Sentosa!

I was quite excited to bring Jerry to KidZania for a couple of reasons – he loves role-playing and KidZania definitely have some […]

Because family matters more.

By |September 27th, 2014|

Last Monday, I took urgent leave and made a last minute trip to Malaysia to visit my grandpa. You know how we always give ourselves the excuse that we will visit someone when we have the time but the time never come before it is too late?

I don’t want that to ever happen to me again ever since my maternal grandma passed away 2 years back. So, I had to skip a training at work and brought the entire family on a road trip to visit my grandpa. After all, he is turning a century old next year. The stars aligned that day and my uncles and aunty were going to be there too and I figured I couldn’t miss this impromptu family gathering.

I can’t tell you how glad I was, because of the smiles that I was seeing on my grandpa’s face the […]

Time out with a day trip to Johor Bahru, Malaysia!

By |August 20th, 2014|

Life is fun when it is littered with bits of impromptus. Last monday, I  went on a day trip to Johor with Estella! It was like really last minute, and I only applied leave on the evening of the Friday before. Talk about randomness! Ok. Partly it was because I still had 14 days of annual leave to clear for the rest of the year and it’s constantly bugging me at the back of my head because the year is soon coming to an end and I foresee having an issue to clear out all of them. (p.s. if you are wondering if I can carry them forward, the 14 days is after setting aside 10 to be carried forward… I KNOW RIGHT!)

So, the husband and I woke up early as usual and sent the kids to school and my mum’s. The husband had to work, so […]

Swimming with Whale Sharks in Oslob, Cebu, Philippines

By |June 18th, 2014|

I am still grappling with the fatigue from the trip and plunging into work right after, but I just. had. to. share. I checked off 1 more item off my bucket list! Woohoo! One down, many more to go and totally looking forward to it.

And yes, you read that right. I SWAM WITH THE SHARKS. And there was 5 of them in total!

That was the sole purpose of my Cebu trip, really. It was an amazing, amazing experience. Probably the most amazing travelling experience I have ever had, the excitement of seeing a really huge giant right before my eyes, the adrenaline of being so close to the largest noncetacean animal in the world and being hit by it accidentally while posing for a picture… just. AWESOME.

One in a lifetime experience. And I super regret that I didn’t ask to […]

Bangkok vacation, protest and rally sites

By |March 4th, 2014|

Are you following me on instagram? No? why not?! If you did, am sure you would have seen pictures of my bangkok vacation 2 weekends ago.

Honestly, other than the pictures i posted on instagram, i have nothing much to show because i barely whipped out my camera even though i had it with me all the time.

I was busy meeting up friends, shopping, and drinking starbucks. and OH. EAT. like NON STOP. and maybe, i tried to cafe hop but didnt have the time, so i basically hop from one to another without eating. not exactly the idea of cafe hopping, i know.

Actually, it was a team bonding trip, but no. The people that you see in the pictures above are not part of my team. Heck, they aren’t even part of my company. I arrived 2 days earlier to clock in more shopping and they are friends […]

So there. you are welcome. Isn’t it an amazing sight? totally missing my south africa trip right now. you can read about some of my experiences here.

Flashback Friday #3 – Travelling in Zambia

By |November 1st, 2013|

I mentioned in my previous flashback friday post that i nearly got kicked by a zebra. So, this week… thought i’ll show you the zebras and the close proximity we were in at the hotel (zambezi sun) during my stay while travelling in Zambia.

free roaming zebras
wild zebras roaming around the hotel grounds.
grazing zebra
watching and observing them in such close proximity is an amazing experience.

my uncle discreetly approaching.

zebra butt
ta-dah! Zebra butt.

The zebra in the last picture is the one that attempted to kick me. Seconds after i took this image, i happened to turn and walk away. That moment was when the zebra lifted his hind legs and gave a kick. thankfully, i was out of range.

its very liberating and refreshing to be near wild animals at such close proximity without any sort of […]
