single parenting.
the husband is serving his reservist currently for 2 weeks. with a relatively new born in the house and an (super hyper) active toddler in the house, you can say I’m in pretty bad shape. sleep deprived nights. one week down, another one to go. the nights are the toughest because I have zero help at all, on top of the moo moo chores and all that bottles washing and sterilizing shit, I think I am on the brink of falling sick. but before I did.. jerry caught a bug and is pretty much very sick the entire day. he missed his afternoon nap today because his nose…

jerome turns 1 month!
and just like that.. a month passed us by! happy 1 month, my little one! the day started early when we woke the kids, bathed them and packed them out of the house before 8.45am. for Jerome, bathing was done with pomelo and pomogranate (红花) leaves. ermm, the leaf was strategically placed. heh. his head looks really big in comparison to his tiny feet here! for me, I was up at 6am to help my mum pack the red eggs and ang gu kueh. my mum spent the night before cooking 140 eggs and coloring them. massive operation! I dressed Jerome in a customized romper that I made…

our own nest.
I almost forgotten to blog about this.. with the happenings and fatigue in the past 2 months, with me roughing out my last trimester as a pregnant lady, the childbirth, confinement, preparation of Jerome’s full month party and having my hands full with the 2 kids and being a moo moo cow. we have finally gotten the keys to our own nest! it actually happened in early Jan so this is pretty late news. here’s some pictures, though everything is rather bare and we have yet to do anything since it’s was nearing CNY and the contractors are usually stop work during this period. our living room, really tiny…

the v-day bouquet
wanted to log this down because it was really unexpected. we werent planning to do any sort of celebration for vday this year since I am serving my confinement and won’t be able to consume outside food. and boy, was I surprised when the husband appeared at my room doorstep at 4.30pm! he usually only comes home at about 9.30pm or later. and to make the day even better, he gave me a bouquet of……… rilakkumas! I just had to laugh at the sight of it, because I am not a fan of these bears.. and they remind me of my colleague, Beverly because she likes them a…

an update on the kids and me.
since the birth of Jerome, life has pretty much been a blur for me. feeding, burping, sleeping, expressing milk, bottle washing, and the likes. I havent have had much energy for anything else really. I remember being very sleep deprived when I had Jerry, with me expressing milk every 2-3 hours. this time round, I have been super lax in this area, expressing only every 4-6hrs.and am in the midst of trying to stretch it longer, but I am equally tired, if not more. in the last 3 weeks, Jerry also turned 21 months old. the bringing of Jerome home didn’t quite affect Jerry. i guessed it helps that…

Day 12 – jerome goes to the pd again!
ever since the first visit to the pd, we have started Jerome on partial formula milk to bring down the jaundice. with his condition which renders it harder for him to break down the jaundice, I was more than willing to agree with the plan. anything that’s best for baby. we have also started him suntanning him twice a day, in the early mornings and evenings. unfortunately, the weather isn’t coorperative lately. it’s been raining non stop so no sun! I’m loving the ease of caring for a newborn. Jerome wakes up promptly every 3 hours for his milk feed and plonks back into dreamland once his hunger is…

Jerry learns his alphas!
or objects associated to it more likely. I made him perform for daddy last night, and i’m sure daddy had a *proud daddy moment* because he showered the kid with loads of kisses and hugs thereafter. how come mummy doesnt get the hugs and kisses? I should get some credit for teaching the kid, no? jerry and his alphabets.mp4 from Cherie Lim on Vimeo.

my day during confinement
wanted to jot down a typical day while doing confinement. I don’t think i’ll go through this pregnancy journey again (especially so now that i know i am a g6pd carrier) so i guess some form of journaling is required to remind myself what i went through. my confinement is anything but typical. I would think confinement = loads of rest, constantly lying down resting and not move so that the body can recover. me? i’m constantly “working” non stop and perpetually sleep deprived. i dont have a maid, nor a confinement lady. My house is wayyyyyy too crammed to house any additional person anyway. Here’s how one of my…

jerome’s first visit to the pediatrician
on Thursday, we bundled the baby off for his first pediatrician visit right of his life. because he is in a swaddle, I left him on the car seat and I sat in the back seat to check on him. since it was really early in the morning, I pulled out his legs for some suntanning action. the good news is.. Jerome put on weight! he was 2.62kg at birth, but lost weight and left the hospital at the weight of 2.49kg. so at 2.75kg, it’s really good news! bad news? his jaundice level shot up to almost double the levels. he left the hospital at 6.6 but after…

mummy updates.
I realised.. this blog space of mine is filled with everything about my kids these days! wanted to blog down some updates about myself, more for my own future reference than anything else. these are the last few pictures of me being preggers! incidentally, they are all taken in toilets! 1st pic was in the private toilet in paragon (yes, there is a private toilet for Citibank paragon card holders and I loveeeee it to bits cos it’s always clean, empty, big mirror and filled with expensive lotions for use). 2nd pic was taken in an apartment at Marina bay sands residence where der and me were busy checking…
