• My Homemade Mee Hoon Kueh.

I haven’t done a food post in a long, long while! I spent the weekend was cooking at home so I thought, why not share it? I don’t cook very often. The hubby much prefers to eat out because it is a lot faster and fuss free. He doesn’t get a tired wife or a dirty kitchen that needs cleaning thereafter so it is perfect for the OCD him. I honestly prefer home-cooked, healthy meals so I try to cook whenever I can. So, presenting my (self proclaimed) awesome mee hoon kueh! Looks yummy anot? It is actually a really simple dish to cook, but prepping it takes a bit of…

  • microwave chicken.

with the impending move to our own house, the one thing i will miss is my mum’s cooking. so, i am going to start noting down her simple to prepare and fuss free recipes here! i learnt the steps in my growing up years, but seriously, when my mum stopped working.. i have been rather pampered because who needs to cook when my mum is home to cook everyday? so i needed a refresher. I also made der learn with my mum earlier so this is also for his future reference. he’s a total noob in cooking (ok, except instant noodles and eggs), but i must applaud his seriousness tonight.…

  • aspiring chef

we bought a cooking set for our boy last week! through our observation, I think this kid like this type of pretend play and its really a good buy. he’ll serve me an empty cup and have me ‘drink’ it, and follow suit with another for himself.  he’ll occupy himself cutting the vegetables and cooking, which is good news for us parents – finally take relax a bit while the hyper kid is occupied.   it was also great that we manage to buy a set in blue! meanwhile, grandma (my mum) is frowning at the growing toy stash. heh.   I got reminded of my younger days where I…

  • Instant noodles.

That’s what I am having for dinner tonight. The husband is gonna be home late from a team building karaoke session (he organized it and I secretly think its a planned getaway from the baby and my nagging). My brother doesn’t come home on Wednesdays so it’s just me and mum and I have decided to relieve my mum from cooking tonight, especially since we have a extremely cranky baby on hand.. Jerry unfortunately is running a fever today and I’m wondering if he has got the sick bug from me or that he is suffering from all that random knocks that he gets around these days. I have been…

  • Tonight’s dinner.

Simple and yummy. I had craving for Maggie curry chicken noodles, so I cooked for the boy and me! With sunny side egg for him and scrambled eggs for myself, paired with loads and loads of vegetables and eryngii bunch mushrooms. Wash all that down with 2 cans of iced cola.. (so not me!) Bliss! Would have been really perfect if I didn’t accidentally burn the boy’s egg. I ran to my room to SMS him that his noodles are ready and have him quickly pop over and in that split second, the egg was slightly burnt cos my fire was too big. =( Nonetheless, the boy enjoyed the meal!…

  • domestic goddess…

except that i am no where near looking like a goddess. i cooked dinner for der again last night! what a lucky b*stard i think he is. considering the fact that i got home so late, am tired and have so much business to care about (like reading my book and doing my hula hoop)! anyway, i tried my hands on frying noodles for him. and yes, you guessed it.. the way my mum cooked it for me. haha. the irritating thing about it is that i totally forgot to take picture while i was preparing it and when i remembered, i ran into my bedroom to grab the camera…

  • cooking things the way your mum does it.

do you find yourself picking up things unknowingly from your mum sometimes? last night, i was lazy to head out for supper so i whipped a simple fare for the boy at 11pm at night. there wasn’t much in the fridge, so i grabbed whatever there was.. and cooked this. when i took a picture of it, i realised it is something that my mum would cook for me if i was hungry. how funny. considering that i am so lazy that i won’t cook if necessary, i hadn’t realised that i picked up the “habits” of my mum.

  • feeling homely

mum is stuck n rengam again. with the late afternoon train termination, i think mum would be spending a whole lot more time with ah gong and ah ma in rengam every time she heads there. it would also means more home alone sessions for me. today, i felt homely after touring the shelfs of NTUC Finest at BTP. am inspired to cook some steamboat for dinner and i came home with heavy grocery bags and a big hole outta my wallet. prepared all the ingredients, washed the vegetables, cut up the necessary and i’m all ready to eat in a while. feels good to be cooking! reminds me of…
