sunday brunch at spruce
the usual trio – andy, cindy and me met up for brunch last sunday (along with our significant other), mainly to bade andy farewell and ‘send him off’. this guy is moving overseas for a work stint and i think i’ll be missing his company. in a blink, its been almost 5 years since the 3 of us have met, worked together, became good friends and stayed in contact while we moved on in various stages of life. its nice seeing his 5-year plan materializing! a half awake jerry at the table. it was my first time at the fire station branch and frankly, we weren’t impressed at all.…

good luck lunch at medz.
so many familiar faces are leaving at my work place. almost every other week, someone left or there are news of people leaving, many of which without a job. had a good luck lunch with serene the other day. I refused to call it goodbye/farewell. I’m sure we’ll meet and keep in contact! lunch was at medz at millenia walk.. it was a little like marche style of dining concept, but with the food offerings based on 8 cuisine stations – Spanish, Moroccan, French, Turkish, Greek and Mediterranean stations. French onion soup, it was bland and in my honest opinion, not worth the money or the stomach space.…

goodbye Steve.
I woke up this morning to some messages that I wish I didn’t see. my dear friend lost the battle to cancer early this morning. I feel numb. I wish he didn’t have to go so soon, but I know he got a lot more than he had bargained for (doc said 6 months but he got more than a year) and we even shared some drinks and chats over the period of time when he was ill. he even met jerry while we hung out. I could feel his pain when I saw him the last time at the hospital. he lost so much weight, had sunken skin, and…

farewell lunches.
farewell lunches are rather rampant these days. almost weekly, I hear news that someone is leaving. I know, its a fact of life. people come and go. it just gets a little harder to bear when its someone when you are quite pally with coreen (who is leaving), jasmine, Janna and myself. self-taken shot on my HTC one x. our food! we had lunch at one of my favourite restaurants, the little fish shop (greenwood fish bistro). I had 5 fresh oysters as starters and man.. its really a lot more worth it dining there for lunch. food from left to right, top down: clams in white wine…

happy farewell lunch
another colleague left us. there seems to be so many these days! shufen was the one that helped refer me my job and in a flash, it has been 3.5 years! lunch at rakuzen, located at ntuc income building at tampines. the restaurant is not very huge, packed with loads of people during lunch, we had to wait a while for a table but food surprisingly came rather fast right after we placed our order. the servers were all rather busy and I suggest making a reservations before heading there or get after 1pm as the lunch crowd would thin down by then. the food is yummy! and here's what…

My mum’s invention.
Drool is a big part of my life at this point in time. Jerry has been drooling so much lately, I sometimes wonder if he gets dehydrated from all the liquid loss. He wets his bib ever so frequently and my mum couldn’t launder them fast enough, especially with the erratic weather these days, so she ‘recycles’ his rompers from the night before (the ones Jerry wears to bed with), turn it upside down and let him wear it as a bib to collect his drool. Know what? I personally think its a brilliant idea, environmentally and pocket friendly too! If you try out this idea as well, let me…

Another farewell.
Another one of my usual lunch kakis leafy for ‘tai-tai dom’ in Taiwan.. First, its Bernice to Shanghai, and now its Dheresse to Taiwan. Actually, the tai-tai dom is self-assumed by me. Heh. She’s off to join her boyfriend turned hubby in Taiwan and start everything all over. According to her, the job entails being the house-keeper, the maid, the sex slave and ________ (add you own description) on top of her day job as a head hunter. Gonna miss the tallest girl in the department and a familiar lunch face. Farewells are hard, but life goes on for everyone else. I hope the friendship stays despite the distance! Posted…

Another goodbye.
Another colleague left today. There’s not much people left in the team! And there are loads of vacancies waiting to be filled. Serene and i had farewell lunch yesterday with Karina at claypotfun @ east coast park! Am usually not a claypot person but I guess the focus is on her, not me. Must say the service is not too bad as when we were there, there weren’t any indoor seats left and we were asked to wait at the tables outside. Our order was promptly taken and we were served complimentary cold barley drinks. And at the first available table, the servers didn’t forget us and had us moved…

candice’s farewell.
loads of familiar faces in the office is leaving one by one. my favourite people are almost all gone. a tad sad, but i guess goodbyes are part and parcels of life. that said, farewell from the office doesn’t mean they’ll be gone from my life, so gotta stay positive. candice was one of the girls that joined the same time i did. we had to organised our first christmas party together in the company (its a norm that newbies had to be part of the committee). had always known her as a cute and sexy girl with short skirts all the time, and gawd, i was quite shocked to…

cindy’s last day
the day came and went. cindy’s last day was filled with a lot of fun, great food and loads of natters and of cos, it ended really late into the night before all of us unwillingly parted. we had our last lunch together as colleagues. just the two of us at the cutesy little cafe with a pinch of salt in katong. love the place for it’s lovely decorations, cute illustrations all over and interesting quotes plastered all over the restaurant. even the windows had cute little stickers plastered over. i think the kids would love this place, with a piano set in the middle of the restaurant. i wondered…
