• Happy news (food wise)

After like what seems like forever and ever, the monkey me finally went nuts over bananas. Yay! Feels so good to sink my teeth into these yellow mushy stuff. I swear I could eat 2 bunches at a go. By the way, in case you are curious.. I am born in the year of monkey. Well, went to the doc’s last Saturday and while battling the long queue, hubby and me went to eat breakfast.. After 10 months of deprivation, I have never been happier to slurp these down. Heh. Pure bliss. Ok, after that it was torture because the hollicks was sooo thick and sweet, I almost died of…

  • Loading up!

I’m like on a food binge marathon to stuff down all the things that I like and won’t be able to eat during confinement and the next few months (seafood). Everyone in the family has been much amused by me, acceding to my requests (oh so loved) and I’ve been rather happy! Flower crabs. Had these 2 weekends in a row.. Honestly, they are so much nicer than crabs because they are oh-so-sweet! Best eaten when steamed plain. Easy and fuss free to prep, and ready to eat within minutes! Ice cream! This is my favourite ice cream, from Korea! I first had it when I was in vietnam, I…

  • Weekends.

Saturday. 1 day before my estimated due date. I was determined to get out and about despite the increasing pain. It’s my LAST weekend out before i’ll be confined. That, I’m pretty sure. Sure is a sight though, with me stopping every few steps for a short break (catch my breath, ease the pain) and moving on at tortoise’s speed. So not used to it and gawd, the hot weather makes it rather unbearable! Brunch at strictly pancakes, 44a prinsep street. A small little shophouse cafe tucked in a corner, with alfresco dinning at the shop front, seats inside and upstairs. Not much of an ambiance where I sat, just…

  • Dinner with Bernice!

Had dinner the other day with Bernice at northpoint, just so to catch up and plus the fact that I won’t be seeing her any much longer in Singapore. She’ll be jetting off to shanghai for taitai-dom while I’m still on maternity, so less my confinement period, we dont have much time left! I took a slow walk to meet her, thank goodness it’s so near my house. My fish & chips at swensens. The first time that I actually ordered fish & can finish ever since I got preggers. Major achievement in my books, really. The sweet hubby came to join us after his work, mainly to ferry his…

  • Dins with the colleagues and sweet Brenda

One of them days that I ventured out without the hubby since the gynae ordered mc! Never mind that I was taking the cab everywhere, cos it was pouring so badly when I stepped out! Was so afraid that I’ll slip and fall (knowing the clumsy old me), but thank god I was kept safe. I hadn’t really wanted to head out for the dinner because of the pain, and lethargic-ness of being home bound for so long., but my colleague kept persuading me, and it was also meant to be a farewell dinner for sweet Brenda, one of the close agency girls that I have worked with. She’s moving…

  • The home project – muffins baking!

To kill the boredom and get my mind off things (think pain), I attempt to give myself a to-do list each day, be it improving the current situation that I am in (think room cleaning, toilet scrubbing, rearranging of furniture) or simply something out of the norm, like the recent BBQ and yesterday, I baked! Nice, cute, yummy blueberry muffins. Never mind that it was from a pre-mix and relatively simple and fuss free. The best bit was I had fun, kept myself occupied though I had the queen bee (mum) hovering over me in her territory (kitchen), issuing unnecessary instructions and trying to mess with my baking and my…

  • My sweet hubby.

I have always been a big fan of roasted duck and I haven’t ate any for the longest time ever since I got preggers, because of a miscommunication between my mum and me. She kept telling me that I should avoid duck meat because they are oh-so-toxic. I was rather bummed out and made der promise that he’ll bring me on a trip to hong kong to feast on their roasted goose before the end of the year. It’s many times nicer than a roasted duck and besides it’s been ages since we last went hk.. The last time i went, i lugged back 3 big birds for the family…

  • My Tuesday lunch.

Couldn’t decide what lunch I should eat today and decided to go with instant noodles. my mum offered to cook me a nice lunch (rice, vege and other dishes) but I think I shan’t trouble her and go with something simple. And ta-dah! My vege-laden instant noodles. Wanted to fry an egg to top it off but was too hungry and lazy to bother. There’s something about eating instant noodles these days. It’s like a comfort food.. Well, anything goes that keeps my stomach filled. And if you notice, I think I’m more of a fan of the vegetables/mushroom than the noodles itself. Now, with the hunger satisfied, my eyes…

  • P for perfect lunch, at Putien.

Upon bernice’s return from the big apple, we had grand plans to make the most out of the limited time that we have (before I pop) for happy lunches! We both just think work’s too depressing and happy lunches are a good way to beat the blues! So putien was the choice of the day. Actually, it was soup kitchen but we got distracted by putien 2 doors away. I officially changed her middle made from Uta to ‘greedy’. Bernice greedy Phua. Lol. I can hear her going.. “so rude..” but she wanted to eat everything!!! Our lunch! Fried brinjal (eggplant) with floss. A tad sweet for me but bernice’s…
