Our nest – updates on the renovation works. [Part 2]
if you are new reading this blog, you can read about how the house looked like when we first collected our keys and about my previous post on the renovations. someone asked about my kitchen counter top from the previous post, so i just do a quick mention here. the counter top is marble. i honestly didn’t compare the price for the various type of top but i do know that i wanted a counter top that could last and based on the few material samples that we saw, we chose this. the husband also feels that i should do my sink some justice and give it some mention. haha!…

Our nest – updates on the renovation works. [Part 1]
i know. i have kinda been spamming everyone bits and pieces of the house on IG (and also FB since its crossed posted) and everyone have been asking if i have moved in. so, i thought an update would be due since the last post on it was in feb. FEB! has it been that long? honestly, we weren’t the most diligent folks on this renovation thing. we only have the weekends to work on it, sourcing for the electrical appliances, deciding on the plans, working out with the ID and whatever not. It’s really one massive project and i learnt a lot out of this experience. Sure, it could…

updates on the house.
its been a month since my last update! the house have been renovated progressively and we have been checking it every week. the husband some times check it consecutively a few days when he happens to be in the area! it has changed quite significantly since! the first thing that was done were the aircon trunking, eletrical stuff, false ceiling, then the floors and the grills. the entire house is also given a white wash of paint. the kitchen cabinet are next! and the slowly, the wardrobes and all the rest of the carpentry works. everything is still work in progress, but all carpentry works are done. there’s just…

random tidbits about building a new home.
i am sooo tired lately, and have been getting bad dizzy spells and headaches. am dreading the coming weeks for a couple of reasons: 1. My mum would be away for a ear surgery in 7 days, which means i need to stake out alone with 2 kids for at least 4 days (non-stop) while she is at the hospital. 2. The same week that my mum is away, my brother is travelling, which means, i don’t have anyone to help me buy food either. 3. der just told me that he won’t be able to take leave/come home earlier that week because he is rushing for launch. major BOO.…

furniture and appliances shopping
my weekends are pretty much filled with furniture and appliances shopping lately. i’m kinda feeling weary about stepping into a harvey normal/best denki/courts/gain city etc and the sight of washing machines and refrigerators makes my mind tune out due to information overload. we have bought our TV, shortlisted the refrigerator model and color, the microwave oven, and going to check out the electrolux sale next weekend for deals before buying our hob/hood, washer and oven. shortlisted our sofa and dining table as well, and hopefully the dimensions fit after the design/layout is finalised. so, we are left with the taps, the sinks and the lightings and miscellanous bits…

our own nest.
I almost forgotten to blog about this.. with the happenings and fatigue in the past 2 months, with me roughing out my last trimester as a pregnant lady, the childbirth, confinement, preparation of Jerome’s full month party and having my hands full with the 2 kids and being a moo moo cow. we have finally gotten the keys to our own nest! it actually happened in early Jan so this is pretty late news. here’s some pictures, though everything is rather bare and we have yet to do anything since it’s was nearing CNY and the contractors are usually stop work during this period. our living room, really tiny…

a home to call our own..
soon! while I have been so busy at work lately, the husband has been taunting me with pictures of our letters from hdb! couple of weeks ago, he sent me this.. it says that the probable completion date is in dec.. I was like.. Chey! not something that I didn’t already know since I so often stalk the hdb website on the status. then last Friday.. we got another letter! this time, to have us submit documents for our loan eligibility! so the weekend saw us scrambling to fill up the necessary and printing out/saving all the docs necessary. it even warranted a trip back to the…

updates on the flat!
just popped into hdb website to find out my registration number for my flat. For those who don’t know, there’s a MobileHDB app on iphone for you to check on your flat application status, any updates and also, the probable completion date if you are like me, waiting for a flat to be ready. It’s quite a useful/handy app to have, but the only grouse that i have is that i cannot login via singpass and i cannot remember my hdb sales registration no. for nuts! Who would remember it offhand? Still, its useful, so go download it for convenience. Of cos, it doesn’t affect those who don’t need it…
