Time out with a day trip to Johor Bahru, Malaysia!
Life is fun when it is littered with bits of impromptus. Last monday, I went on a day trip to Johor with Estella! It was like really last minute, and I only applied leave on the evening of the Friday before. Talk about randomness! Ok. Partly it was because I still had 14 days of annual leave to clear for the rest of the year and it’s constantly bugging me at the back of my head because the year is soon coming to an end and I foresee having an issue to clear out all of them. (p.s. if you are wondering if I can carry them forward, the 14…

good morning.
the big one and the small one. they look quite cute together. we are all up early this morning, popping over to jb to visit my grandma at the hospital and to load up on a sumptuous breakfast. 3 visits in 3 consecutive days. I think I broke my own record for visiting. Posted via LiveJournal app for Android.

food expedition.
what msia means to me is always 2 things – family and good food. and no, in case you are wondering.. I am a Singaporean, except that I have a wee bit of Malaysia blood in me. with the family wedding yesterday, the family gathered in jb for a good feasting opportunity before the celebration. we trooped in bright and early on Saturday morning. first stop. I finally tried out the mee hoon kuay that derrick has been raving about for a while. this is near his johor office in so its pretty far off from the jb town because its in skudai. I think it taste pretty good.…

Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas people! I spent my eve sleeping the day away! Each year, the thing that I look most forward to on this day, is the company department Christmas party where there are tonnes of gifts to be given away! Last year, I walked away with a wii set + hero band (it’s still lying unopened somewhere in the house), and I was gunning for the 5 ipads, MacBook air, 4 hp minis, mobile phones and lenovo notebooks up for grabs. Unfortunately, I only survived 7 rounds and got drawn out at prize 48. =( $200 worth of taka vouchers. So sad! The theme of the party was back to…

Long day.
The day started at 6.30am. i struggled between trying to silence the 5 ringing alarm clocks (my iPhone, my alarm clock, der’s g-shock alarm clock, and our E71s) and trying to grab more sleep. to top it off, my mum was banging madly on the door to wake us up. -_- who in the world wakes at 6.30am in the morning to go JB? I think my mum is insane and as much as i tried telling her that we DO NOT need to go so early because there will be no jam, way enough time for breakfast AND shopping before turning up for granduncle’s birthday lunch.. the stubborn streak…

a little laughter
just remembered a little joke that made me smile this morning. it happened during the car washing trip in JB. we didn’t have a lot of ringgit and it was too late to go to the money changer’s. I had RM$200 and was wondering if it was sufficient for the lok lok meal for 3, car wash and the petrol refuelling for 2 cars, and agnes said, “no worries, i got Rm$100!” and so we went, and after filling our stomach with lok lok, here’s what happened! A: I’ll pay. i got Rm$100. C: Don’t be silly, let me pay. i have more money A: It’s ok. It’s ok. C:…

the past weekend
i seemed to be forever chasing my blog entries these days. i never really get the chance or time to blog when i want to or when i have the inspiration.. and i am beginning to find it a mere ‘obligation’ to update my blog after a while, because i update because i have to. well, don’t get me the wrong way. i’m just feeling obligated to myself because the whole idea of having my own blog is to keep snippets of my life so that i can read it some years later. so, i do hope there’s no long lapse between my entries and my life is being tracked.…

the JB food trail..
ok. i didn’t take all the pictures of the stuff i had. sometimes, i was just plain lazy. other times, i was just too hungry. either that or that the stuff are the usual ones that i always eat and they have nothing much to shout about. kicked start the trip with bak kut teh! big bowl of mixed stuff, pig trotters, tau pok, and salted vegetables. it was just heaven tucking into these even its a hot afternoon. there was this chicken in a claypot thing but i apparently got too busy eating that i didnt take a picture of it. durian as a dessert 30 mins after our…

where i was over the weekend..
new york… // new york hotel in jb i meant. where the view spans into nothingness. with a funeral to attend and uncle and grandpa in JB, bro & me booked 2 hotel rooms to “facilitate” our stay. the only sad thing is that, we didn’t really have much chance to enjoy the hotel, coming back close to midnight every day and heading out at 8am. my aching bones are collapsing into shambles. so much so, i had to crawl back into bed at 11am today to grab an hr nap before we are due to check out. i guess funerals are mentally draining events. i’m glad that mum enjoys…

a journey to the north..
of singapore. last sunday, we did an impromptu trip to JB to satisfy my lust for lok lok! i didn’t even ask for it and it didn’t cross my mind either. i guess it is the boy’s way of telling me he loves me, and that he wanted to make me happy because he will be away for 2 weeks. so sweet right? i grabbed agnes to join us. what’s an adventure without more people to share the joy? and ya, if you noticed… agnes and me didn’t plan what to wear. it was a coincidence. the tops are different, just that the color is very similar. 🙂 Hmmm.. love!…
