furniture and appliances shopping
my weekends are pretty much filled with furniture and appliances shopping lately. i’m kinda feeling weary about stepping into a harvey normal/best denki/courts/gain city etc and the sight of washing machines and refrigerators makes my mind tune out due to information overload. we have bought our TV, shortlisted the refrigerator model and color, the microwave oven, and going to check out the electrolux sale next weekend for deals before buying our hob/hood, washer and oven. shortlisted our sofa and dining table as well, and hopefully the dimensions fit after the design/layout is finalised. so, we are left with the taps, the sinks and the lightings and miscellanous bits…

Random things about Melbourne [Warning: Image intensive]
I know my melbourne entries are totally random and sporadic, but its really quite tough to squeeze some time to sit in front of my lappie without jerry demanding my attention or jerome crying/fussing, so do bear with me. still have so much more to go. i didnt have the time to gather my thoughts so this would be a random entry about things in melbourne that i would like to remember about. mailing out postcards. I would usually buy a postcard of the cities that i go and mail them to my friend sally ever since i found out about her love of postcards many many years back. my…

Unboxing my box of goodies.
My uncle arrived last night because it’s my granduncle’s birthday today and we all traveled up south to msia to celebrate the occasion. Anyway, I must say the past few days has been rather shitty. My work laptop crashed non stop and my IS couldn’t fix it and I had to back up my entire hard disk so that they can reformat it. Unfortunately, it was a busy weekend for me with a roadshow happening so it was kinda madness in some sense. Well, i brought my laptop home (but i have yet to find the time to do it). Then, when I got home.. I heard news of grandma…

the search for a playpen
and so.. with just a few days short of hitting the 6 months mark, my son has become incredibly mobile, moving across the room, half crawling, half hopping, half rolling or whatever means possible. put a toy he is interested in from across the room and he’ll scamper across in the ways he knows how. which pretty much means.. NIGHTMARE. today, he rolled himself off the play mat onto the hard marble floor under the coffee table in a matter of seconds and gently knocked his head against the floor. i was aghast. one second he was beside me in the center of the play mat, the next second, he’s…

Fantastic service from ikea.
Am here at ikea with my brother to exchange some pots that my mum bought yesterday. The pots are hilarious., there are dents and the whole pot is totally outta shape! It's a set of 3 and the biggest pot looked like it melted into some gooey shape which was totally not visible with the packaging. My mum realized it only when she was washing it! They had a good laugh over it. I wanted to take a picture of it but my brother was too fast and returned it. =( Anyway, point is.. They usually do a credit refund but my brother is too lazy to do a pick…

All about shoes.
There’s something that I bought a lot while on the recent trip, and that’s shoes. Thing is, pre-pregnancy, my heels were mostly killer heels that were really high and not the friendliest things to walk in, at least not with the many barangs that I have to carry with the baby, and lugging a stroller in tow. I missed them though and I wonder when I’ll get the chance to don then again. So on this trip, I took the opportunity to buy some lower heeled shoes/wedges (there are high ones too!), especially peep toes ones which I usually have a hard time trying to buy any in singapore. I’m…

Turning into one of them.
The kiasu parents that can’t wait to let their kids start learning and reading. Ok. It was bothering me for a bit that I wasn’t reading any books or bed time stories or teaching Jerry anything at all for a while. I read books/websites and they all indicated that babies can learn to identify with colors and baby books with sharp contrasts do them good and aid their ability to learn (or something of the sort la). All Jerry had was this sophie giraffe that was gifted and no one also sang children songs to him (I sucks at singing), der doesn’t know what baby/children songs there are or maybe…

Newest bag purchase.
Ok. Not exactly new but it was the last bag i bought. I have been eyeing the diaper bags from Kate spade for a while, but haven’t really gotten the chance to get any because I only love the brightly coloured ones or those with loud designs. The ones on the website are usually black (the colored ones sell out real fast) and no one seemed to be able to help me grab hold of any when they go on holiday. Then one day, I saw this on amazon.com 2 months ago and was so excited that I promptly bought it. It was perfect for me, big, roomy, bright red/pink…

Lovin’ it.
Love my new ASOS dresses! It came the mail some time back but my mum kept thinking it was meant for my brother and kept it aside. I wrote an email to complain about my lost parcel and today, my brother suddenly picked up the package and went – what is this?! How come you got a parcel lying here? And happiness! I thought I lost the ash clutch bag that I was so looking forward to receiving. Belt not included. Bright orange sun dress with my ash clutch! Hmmm.. Am so ready to head out!! Looks like I could fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes. The dresses at least, but…

One last dash to run an errand.
These days, I hardly could get out of bed. I sleep like a hibernating bear and the role has reversed. Used to be me bugging the boy to wake to grab food to eat, but these days, he wakes and sneakingly creeps out of bed to head home (so that I can sleep longer) but he’s often ‘caught’ since I am the light sleeper and still would rouse and ask a question before my body gives up and slump back into bed. I practically slept the long weekend away. Late last evening, I realized that I needed to head out to buy a new mattress for my room.. the current…
