• Day 4 in shanghai.

[WARNING!! Long post ahead!!] Look of the day! We were up bright and early for a long day! Visited the most iconic building of the city – the oriental pearl tower. It was the first time taking the city metro was well. My metro ticket and the busiest station in shanghai – People’s centre (人民广场). The picture is a little blur cos I panicked a little when the door opened. Inside of the train, during the non peak period. Think this was 11am in the morning. Another shot. Similar to our train stations. The iconic building from a distance. There’s something about circular overhead bridges and shanghai. They are all…

  • Day 3 in shanghai

We obviously didn’t wake up till late morning from the late night karaoke. It was a chilly day so I wore a knit dress With leggings and layered over my jacket. I think I looked gloomy with the colors I brought over and the dark mirror I took my picture in. Apple store at Huai hai (m) road. It’s at the connecting building adjacent to our apartment, a 2-storey high store but not the biggest available here. Traffic light. Be warned, did you see it’s half red and half green? Apparently you are supposed to cross half and wait for the other half. It’s sooooo misleading that I think I…

  • Day 2 in shanghai

My outfit for the day. Brought x.silly out with me for a day of adventure, though I actually didn’t really do much. By the time we got out of the apartment, it was way past noon and we were famished! Typical street of shanghai. Barren trees with nice weather (it’s spring now).. We headed to 佳家汤包 for lunch, recommended by my colleague, bev. I had no idea where we were actually because we took a cab to the outlet we went (Bernice gave the instructions) because that particular outlet has a higher rating. I later found out there was an outlet just round the corner from our apartment. Ha! There…

  • In shanghai.

Arrived in shanghai yesterday afternoon.. And spent my first hour going through bad traffic and horrible driving to get to Bernice’s apartment in huai hai. We chilled the evening away in her nice ascott apartment before heading out for my favorite steamboat dinner at hai di lao at 金玉兰广场。 While the prices ain’t cheap, I must say the service is exemplary. They really amaze me with the little things they do.. First, I had my jacket and bag in the chair next to me so they provided a cloth to cover up the stuff and gave me an apron to wear so that my clothes will not be dirty.. Then,…

  • All about shoes.

There’s something that I bought a lot while on the recent trip, and that’s shoes. Thing is, pre-pregnancy, my heels were mostly killer heels that were really high and not the friendliest things to walk in, at least not with the many barangs that I have to carry with the baby, and lugging a stroller in tow. I missed them though and I wonder when I’ll get the chance to don then again. So on this trip, I took the opportunity to buy some lower heeled shoes/wedges (there are high ones too!), especially peep toes ones which I usually have a hard time trying to buy any in singapore. I’m…

  • home bound.

14 days after, i am heading home now. bound for the airport in another 10 mins and my laptop is the last thing that i am packing in. in the last 14 days, i barely had the energy to catch up with everyone’s blog entries, lest write my own. i am sooooooo tired. this has got to be one of the most ‘interesting’ trip to seattle because we did almost nothing and even cancelled the road trip to vancouver to help with my uncle’s paper work. but then again, i guess its for the better good of the future cos we cleared so much, i don’t think it’ll happen again.…

  • I’m off!

on a round-the-world trip. heh. kinda. leaving for the airport now, and here’s the itinerary! Singapore – Moscow (transit) – Houston (Texas) (transit) – Orlando (Florida) – Seattle (Washington) – Vancouver (Canada) (road trip) – Seattle (Washington) – Narita Airport (Japan) (transit) – Singapore. i cannot believe it’s literally AROUND the world. would be lost in the cyberspace for about 30+ hours while i go battle motion sickness on board the flight and struggle with jetlag thereafters.

  • south africa day 6 (1 Oct 09) – Trip to Victoria Falls!

on this day, we visited 3 countries in a single day! it was interesting and humbling, because i saw for myself the poverty of these countries and saw the children running about trying to earn money for their meals. i was also a little freaked out when i was stuck in a locked vehicle with others outside peering in on me and trying to get my attention (i volunteered to stay back to look after the luggages and belongings) while the rest went to clear immigrations. Yes, i don’t need to personally be there to clear immigrations, which was really, an eye-opener. at the OR Tambo International airport terminal. it’s…

  • south africa day 5 (30 Sep 09) – headed to johannesburg.

after a chillax day the day before, i woke at 4+ and witnessed the most beautiful sunrise ever. i managed to capture a picture of it in its glowing glory. and seconds later, the sky started to light up! gosh! pretty things are almost always gone in a flash huh? while i was scurrying around in my hut, i heard the commotion in the next hut where my 2 uncles are also trying to take pictures of the sunrise. it’s hilarious. because of the privacy of the rooms, i can hear them but cannot see what they are up to! anyway, the rest of the pictures aint that pretty anymore..…

  • South africa Day 4 (29 Sep 09) – Rest & relax at Kwa Madwala

the weather took a turn on this day and it was much colder that we all expected. in fact, it was freezing my arse off because we started the day with an early morning drive before the sun even got up. my face was smacked with iced cold winds as the 4×4 vehicle drove on and i almost couldnt feel my fingers at one point in time. i wasn’t joking! thankfully, my toes werent facing the same fate. i was seated on the first row, and whenever the vehicle moved, my teeth chattered and my hair whipped angrily across my face. like the previous times, we drove around and hunted…
