Weekends.
Saturday. 1 day before my estimated due date. I was determined to get out and about despite the increasing pain. It’s my LAST weekend out before i’ll be confined. That, I’m pretty sure.
Sure is a sight though, with me stopping every few steps for a short break (catch my breath, ease the pain) and moving on at tortoise’s speed. So not used to it and gawd, the hot weather makes it rather unbearable!
Brunch at strictly pancakes, 44a prinsep street. A small little shophouse cafe tucked in a corner, with alfresco dinning at the shop front, seats inside and upstairs.
Not much of an ambiance where I sat, just beside the serving counter & kitchen where the blenders keep whirling non stop to churn out devilishly sinful milkshakes. I do wonder how the upstairs would be like, but no thanks to climbing the stairs for me.
Nutella milkshake and peanut butter milkshake. Both equally yummy!!
Cute signs around the shop, and there’s this huge chalk menu board that I forgot to take a picture of! I kept reminding myself to take when I step out, but my brains went missing after my meal! The place serves both savory and sweet pancakes. The savoury ones sounds exotic and apparently has a lot of good reviews but we both were in the mood for sweet ones. Imagine garlic herb butter prawns pancakes!
Hubby’s chocolate pancakes – druggie, served with chocolate sauce, ice cream and strawberries! The chocolate pancakes were soft and not too sweet. A nice change from the usual pancakes, I say. Happy boy with his food.
My peanut butter pancakes served with nutella, kinder bueno and vanilla ice cream – I think it’s called what-a-spread!
The boy’s druggie was much better and my kinder bueno tasted a little flat and lost its crispiness. =(
Nonetheless, interesting meal, but too much chocolates and sweet stuff and I was constantly asking for ice water to wash everything down.
Service is slow and they seemed rather short handed for a weekend, counter was piled with loads of dirty cups and utensils so it was rather unsightly and looks dirty. The counter walls were also stained with previous spills. Think they should consider repainting the white counter to make it more appealing aesthetically.
Would be back to try the savory pancakes some day! It closes at 4pm though, and last orders are at 3.30pm. Exactly opposite parklane if you want to know, its the same row of shop houses where the minds cafe is located.

Wow! I must say they must’ve expanded their sweets menu. I used to visit when they just opened and the sweets were so-so only.
But the savoury! The savoury is to die for!!! Well, the garlic prawn one that is. With the garlic herb butter! Mmmmm…
Anyway, you should absolutely try it! 🙂
