Jerome turns 2 years old!
I know I haven’t been blogging much. It’s been somewhat a crazy last week and I have been making subtle changes to my lifestyle as well. Don’t you always feel that a year gives you a brand new re-start and serves more motivation to make the changes that you have always been thinking about? I’m doing just that and I will share more in a separate post, but meanwhile, this post is all about my kid!
Jerome turned 2 years old last friday. We didn’t have a big birthday do, but just small celebrations with family. The first was the Sunday before his actual birthday. There was no fancy cake even, just the good old durian cake from Jane Cake’s station decorated with Peppa Pig toys that we got from the mall. 4 Peppa Pig to symbolize our family..
Jerry was singing the song very enthusiastically here. I think he secretly wants to blow off those candles himself! Jerome, was just very attracted by the toys and the cake. I think he is the greedy one.. He actually dig his fingers into the cake before it was cut.
Jerry’s expression here is priceless. Haha. He was trying to help blow the cake and this was that split second before he blew his saliva out.
Both the husband & I couldn’t take the day off from work on the actual day unfortunately, and I managed to leave the office only at 9.30pm at night. I went to my mum’s place where the kids were and celebrated the last 2 hours of his birthday with him.
I think it was me that they were looking at, while we were singing the birthday song. The husband grabbed a Thomas & Friends cake from Polar and I actually quite like the taste of this cake. Good old butter cream in chocolate with soft sponge. Simple and nice.
And that’s about it. It was a really simply celebration, but it was with all the people that mattered, missing my brother who was out working that day too.
The kids are so happy with the candles to blow off and the cakes to eat. I however, was in disbelief that my baby kid has officially turned 2 years old. I still relish the baby smell in him and think about the days where he is oh-so-tiny. I can’t imagine that tiny baby that I had is now this huge kid that people mistake as twins with his older brother. Has 2 years really passed?
Him turning 2 also signals another thing. That he will be joining his brother in school/childcare. I haven’t had wanted to enrol him that early but the school changed their systems recently and they have been taking in annual intakes instead so I might have to wait another year if I were to enrol him later. He has been asking for school and I think he is ready, so he will be starting next week on 2 Feb. Yet another milestone coming up.
I am still in disbelief. That my baby is gone and I now have a toddler that articulates what he wants and shows me that he is the boss sometimes. I.. miss my tiny bundle. How did the past year pass so quickly? Here’s a pictorial archive for the past 12 months, starting from his 1 year old birthday party.
He turned from the awkward walker that looks like he might fall anytime to this cheery, expressive toddler that runs the moment his feet touches the floor. It’s been an amazing year, and he has grown so fast… I wish time would slow down a little.
Happy birthday my baby! Please grow up healthy, happy and always be curious about the things around you. Mummy loves you very very much!

I guess the wishing for time to pass slower so we can have more of their baby days will never go away..
