More on self and family, and less of everything else.

So, I have been blogging a lot lesser these days because I have thinking, and not really doing (blogging) much. 6 months earlier, I wrote about 15 things that I will do differently this year, and I think I am faring rather okay against that checklist. I have definitely clocked in a lot more sleep, take things a lot slower, do less gorging and more proper eating and scrutinising what really goes into my mouth. I try to exercise whenever I can, and the family clocks in at least a day of outdoor activity each week so that we don’t coop up in the house or roam the malls that much.

My nights are mostly spent snuggling my boys, or nagging them to sleep. The sad truth is, I don’t touch my computer that much anymore. In fact, I use social media a lot less too. I am less interested in scrolling through my Instagram feed as compared to smelling the sweaty heads of my boys and asking them questions about their day. I chat lesser with my friends because I don’t want my boys to grow up without me realising it. I don’t have the luxury of being with my boys all the time as a full time working mum, so I want to make every moment I spend with them count.

And then before I know it… the days and weeks just slip by. It’s almost the end of July! Wow.

My last blog post was dated 22 June. So, what really happened the past 1 month?

We started the boys on blading classes. Like, informal, private classes. I do intend to send Jerry to group blading class soon because he seems ready for it now as compared to when we first sent him for the trial class. Daddy & me has also spent loads more time blading together, practising or even watching youtube tutorials on blading. We definitely intend to do more healthy activities together as a family because it is fun to. Am secretly glad that the husband is also more into running and outdoor activities recently as compared to the past.

The most significant event was Grandpa turning 100 years old! It’s a day that I very much look forward to, because admit it, how many people get to celebrate a century old birthday? It’s so cool and I am very thankful that my grandpa is still rather strong and good.  We had the usual birthday celebration and reunion lunch. This year, my cousins from Netherlands and USA both came, as well as an aunt that I haven’t seen in real life for at least 25 years (or more!). It’s like a royal gathering in my books and it’s really quite cool!

NG family cousins

This is probably the most complete picture of my cousins from my mum’s side, missing the only other female cousin who is based in the US. A really, really rare picture because with the exception of my brother & me, everyone else lives in a different city in the world. This is also the first time there are so many of us at the same occasion!

I also snuck off from the kids and went on a 4-day girlfriend only trip to Bangkok. It was super impromptu, like we were having dinner one day, and we booked tickets the next few days and we flew in the next few weeks! I kinda missed doing stuff like that, putting together impromptu trips and jetting off in a whimsy. I guess the stars just aligned and things happened. Am very thankful for the supportive husband too!

We had a lot of fun in BKK, despite the fact that it’s my 4th time there in less than 18 months. Each time, the company is different so it is a different experience altogether. I would love to share about my trip, and we also took some videos on the trip. If we can find the time, we will probably put together a video of our adventure! Tell me if you are keen in watching! It would motivate me to get my butt down to doing it if I know somebody wants to see it! It was a really relaxing trip for me because I have always been rushing around and clocking a lot in my previous trips. This time round, I did everything a lot slower, partly because I have been there, done that! I wasn’t in a hurry to do a lot because the itinerary was catered mainly for my gf who hasn’t seen much of BKK. After all, things hasn’t changed back in 18 months!

The husband and me also made more effort to clock in couple-time. I just got to admit that wearing the parenting hat day in day out does have tolls on the relationship. We don’t agree on everything when it comes to the kids. The husband is a no-nonsense you-better-listen-to-me kinda parent while I am the why-do-you-do-this and explanation kind of parent. Of cos there are loads of conflicts especially when it comes to the kids but I think we are managing it okay. Everyone has their differences anyway and we do discuss about how best to deal with the kids or figure out what went wrong where.

We are ending the month with a family run! We signed up for the Shape Run 2015 – 1.8km fun run category and I have no idea how Jerome is going to handle it. It’s his first official race on his legs! He has been doing stroller runs up till this point in his life and I am praying hard that he doesn’t fall or wants me to carry him all the way. He ain’t a light baby!

Anyone joining the race too? Drop me a comment, would love to say hi or keep a lookout for you at the race!

And.. that’s what I have been up to. In real quick snapshots. August is gonna be a busy month for me so I don’t really know if I will get the chance to blog as often. Do sign up for the blog’s mailing list (see right side bar) to get notified when I do post something or follow me on facebook or Instagram where I am currently most active at! If I am not appearing much, be sure to know that I am just trying to put more focus of living life fully or spending time with my family! That’s what is most important right? I’m sure you’ll understand…

Thanks for reading still, and see you around soon!

Hi there! Thanks for popping by. I'm Cherie, a ftwm (full-time working mum) to 3 lovely kids (2 boys & a princess) and my motto in life is to BE HAPPY. Sure, life isn't all that smooth but it's the mentality that counts, no? This blog documents my life. Or rather, snippets of my life that has passed me by. I love capturing life memories in the blog and being able to read back and laugh at myself (or anyone). I love to eat (A LOT), travel and paint my own nails so the blog is mostly about that. Is that considered lifestyle? Of cos, the family is also very much an integral part of me so there would be loads of memories about the husband and my kids - Jerry (9yo), Jerome (7yo) and Leia (2.5yo) and everyone else that's close to me. I like documenting the kids' milestones, their growing up years, their achievements (and sometimes, mine), and my struggles and battles with motherhood. It sure ain't easy. I love seeking out good food and travelling, is trigger-happy, love new gadgets, love exploring new places and strives to live life to the fullest. I aspire to travel the world as much as I can, to soak in the different sights across the various continents and visit all the Disneylands in the world (almost there!). Have fun reading and do drop me a comment to say hi! Love, Cherie Lim Find me on Instagram.
