Happy birthday to me.

By |August 4th, 2016|

It’s my birthday again. The last one still felt so recent. I am on leave because I don’t really like to work on my birthday! But I forgot to silent the phone when I went to bed the night before and the day started with the phone beeping non stop from my group chats with greetings from 7am onwards. *goans*

This year, I made plans to visit the TCM (gotta heal my leg fast for Nepal) and plonked myself at Starbucks for a couple of hours to do work (no choice) and waited for hubby to come pick me up to spend the afternoon together and have dinner. It was just that – simple.

Amongst the simple things, there is one particular incident that I really wanted to remember and put it down on the blog.

Jerry bought me his first present with his own money and drew me a surprise card.

Conversations with the husband #18 – My wife is a fight stewardess.

By |June 19th, 2016|

This conversation happened earlier this year, when I was updating the husband about my travel plans. It was early January and we just got back from a 3 day holiday in Macau. It was a surprise birthday holiday that the husband knew nothing about till 48hrs before flight time. I wish I could keep the surprise till we reach the airport but unfortunately, it is not very possible with kids in the picture. There are logistics to shift them in with the gramps before the trip happens and packing their stay over bag would be a huge giveaway. Nonetheless, the husband was *still* surprised.

So, immediately after the Macau trip, while I was packing for my Korea trip that’s happening in a matter of hours then..

Me: Oh, I forgot to tell you that I am travelling to bangkok in March or April.
Husb: Huh? Again?
Me: Err.. ya..
Husb: You just came back […]

Proposal Story – How I said “Yes”.

By |May 16th, 2016|

Eh, are you wondering why the sudden strange topic?  This blog post is part of a “Proposal Stories Blog Train” where 15 mummies will share their proposal stories on 15 different days.

So, it’s my turn today and I thought it would be a good opportunity to share because it was never documented on this blog. OMG, how did that happen right? How can I not document such a moment?! It’s true. It’s really not here.

So I will try very hard to recall the event that happened 7 years ago. The memories are vague, but it happened on my birthday weekend, or rather, the weekend before my birthday (falls on a monday that year).

I was so looking forward to the weekend, because it was going to be long weekend for me! I took leave, obviously. I don’t know when but I started the tradition of not working […]

Checked off items on bucket list!

By |April 17th, 2016|

My blog has been quiet. But my life has been anything but boring. In fact, I have been so busy that I neglected the blog as a result. I sometimes do wonder if people read this anymore. Leave me a comment if you do.. it will definitely spur me to blog more!

So, I have clocked up quite a bit of adventures in recent months…. Taiwan, Amsterdam, Cologne, Macau, Korea, USA  and I can’t wait to blog about them. I really need to find the time amidst my work and parenting duties. And then, I was looking through my bucket list items today and realised I checked off quite a few!

Here’s what I checked off!

1. Visit Grand Canyon.

Checked this off in February this year when I headed to the US with the husband. Grand Canyon is so grand and amazing, I wish I did more than just a day trip. I […]

Hi there (again).

By |March 21st, 2016|

It’s been a long while since I have written a random, raw, unplanned post. Thought about it tonight and decided that maybe I should since the kids decided to spare me the agony and went to bed early. Hooray! Especially so on a solo-parenting night.

I, haven’t blogged for a long long while. Since my last blog spot on CIDB, I kinda went dead silent. So much has happened since. 2016 has been rather eventful thus far. It took a sponsored post to break the 2 months silence, but there has been many times that I wanted to write… but just didn’t.

What has been going on since?

The happy moments.

I threw a surprise trip to Macau for the husband for his birthday with the objective of spending some couple time together. Caught him totally off guard. It’s something I wished would happen to me but it will […]

Daiso 101 – 15 Useful Things from Daiso and what I do with them.

By |October 6th, 2015|

I confess, I am a Daiso-holic. And I know there are a lot of you out there who are the same, and maybe some of you choose to be closet ones, but still… I know a lot cannot resist the lure of stepping in and just browsing around, right? Com’on, there is no shame. We are all just super good at saving money and buying useful things at a fraction of their price sometimes. Other times, it’s for convenience sake!  😛

I… (much to the horror of my husband) often lug huge bags home from Daiso. My husband has a phobia each time I go near a store, but he doesn’t really stop me because he is sweet like that. I just like to spend time browsing the items, and sometimes, find a lot of useful items and interesting things to buy. Besides, each Daiso store stocks different inventory so it’s […]

Prepping the Teacher’s Day Present.

By |August 30th, 2015|

Teacher’s Day is next week! Parents with young school-going children like me are fretting about what to get. I know there are parents who don’t really bother, but I wanted to show my appreciation because I am thankful of the teachers who nurture my kids in the school they are at. All of them whom have impacted my kids in one way or another. I scrambled to put something together last week because I know we will be away on vacation in Taiwan. Want to know what I got for Jerry & Jerome’s teachers? Here’s a hint!

Spent a few hours at night prepping the pressies with the husband. Here’s a image of the final product!

I thought it was a meaningful gift, because I have seen the kids grow so much in the past year, not just physically, but intellectually. The kids talk fondly about their teachers as well and I haven’t heard a […]

SG50 Family Fun with FOX Kids & Baby!

By |August 8th, 2015|

Over the last weekend, the boys got to attend a really cool and fun event! In celebration of the SG50 week, the team at FOX Kids & Baby organised a old school/retro themed media preview for the Fall Winter’15 collection at the City Square Mall outlet. The shop was closed off for a private event and the boys were really in for a treat!

The City Square Mall outlet was somewhat being transformed, and they had a corner filled with old school treats that I could very much relate to as an 80’s kid!  There were Doraemon boxed snack that comes with a toy (I loved this as a kid!), number 8 chocolates, BobDog cigarettes sweets, the sugar drop biscuits, mamee, and a lot more! Jerry was perpetually stuck in that corner munching away.

It was one of those rare times that I didn’t quite limit my kids. They went crazy! […]

More on self and family, and less of everything else.

By |July 19th, 2015|

So, I have been blogging a lot lesser these days because I have thinking, and not really doing (blogging) much. 6 months earlier, I wrote about 15 things that I will do differently this year, and I think I am faring rather okay against that checklist. I have definitely clocked in a lot more sleep, take things a lot slower, do less gorging and more proper eating and scrutinising what really goes into my mouth. I try to exercise whenever I can, and the family clocks in at least a day of outdoor activity each week so that we don’t coop up in the house or roam the malls that much.

My nights are mostly spent snuggling my boys, or nagging them to sleep. The sad truth is, I don’t touch my computer that much anymore. In fact, I use social media a lot less too. I am less […]

The day I met a kind soul.

By |May 14th, 2015|

Kind acts are a little underrated in Singapore. There are kind souls around and I have witnessed quite a few of them. It is just that they aren’t as amplified as the negative ones commonly seen on social media today.

Today, a kind stranger that really, really made my day.

So, 4 months ago, I posted this picture on my Instagram of me wearing my mi band (a fitness tracking device worn on the wrist).

I am not a fitness buff. I just have the habit of tracking and knowing how much I walk daily, and it does soothes me to know that I do clock in at least the recommended 10,000 steps a day. I have been doing that using my phone for the longest time, but was really excited when I was gifted the mi band because it boasts of a lot more functions like tracking my sleep patterns, notifying me […]
