Easter Eggstravaganza at Universal Studios Singapore
[Sponsored Post]
We brought the kids & my nephew to hunt for some easter eggs over the school holidays weekend. Easter is one of those holidays that I really look forward to every year because I really, really like chocolate eggs and they are only available during this time of the year! Now that Universal Studios is having Easter Eggstravaganza (nice pun), it is a perfect time to visit Resort World Sentosa and be eggcited over eggs! Sorry, couldn’t resist!
So what’s the eggciting easter about, you’ll ask? Loads of eggs to hunt down, loads of rabbit ears to pull at (I’m joking at the pulling part) and special shows to catch. Even the entrance of the USS has been brightened up with loads of flowers and colourful eggs. The eggs are aplenty, and hidden at almost every corner of the park! Quite a cheery sight!
Eggs, Eggs, Everywhere!
Before I could explore the park any further, we spent the next 30 mins….
There’s something about bubbles that bring immense joy to these kids and they just couldn’t stop! They ran round in circles and popping the bubbles like crazy and refused to leave. By the time I finally managed to pull them away, all the kids were perspiring and looked like they have shampoo in their hair! I was so tempted to buy the bubble maker but my husband (he who cannot stand mess) stopped me. Those huge bubbles were really quite fun.
Every few steps thereafter, is peppered with different type of easter eggs. Like this minion wearing a head shell whom my kids attempted to steal eggs from. I laughed out loud at their attempt, much to the horror of the next person in line waiting to take a picture. Of cos I made them put those eggs back!
Jerome is a cookie monster himself and was extremely delighted to point out coookie monster here! There are 100 of such huge eggs around at the Sentosa Harbourfront area, each decorated differently. If you are on the egg-venture hunt, there are loads of them hidden in the USS! If you are not sure what an Egg-venture, read about Singapore Biggest Egg Hunt. There is actually an app that you can download, hunt out those eggs and get to redeem some prizes!
Here’s some of the other eggs that you can expect to see..
The Shrek one is one of my favourite because it is so so cute! Besides, everyone loves Shrek right?
The biggest egg of them all is at the Eggingham Palace! It’s hanging right up there above everyone’s head.
Special Easter-themed Shows!
The key highlight of the Easter themed shows – The Royal Lunch at Eggingham Gardens. which features the Lord of Eggingham, Lord Benedict and Lady Florentine with comical stunts and top-tapping tunes. Reminds me of Sunday brunch with all those names. It’s filled with loads of puns that the much younger children (like mine) might not get, but otherwise entertaining if you have a sense of humour.
The show starts at the this building, and it travels through the park and ends up at Soundstage 28 in New York Zone, where you’ll get to see a stage show. I won’t give any more spoilers (other than the pictures below), but do follow close behind the characters to get a good seat!
The Dance For The Magic Beans Show also has some easter-themed surprises throughout. Unfortunately, I missed all the shows while juggling the demands of 3 kids and trying to make sure they stay hydrated, fed and happy.
I also read that there is also a Egg Quest that you can go around on a Egg-ploration and get rewarded with a little token when you complete the quest. I totally missed this out since I didn’t know where I could get the egg quest card.
Read a comprehensive list of USS Easter events available and decide which are the ones you would want to go for beforehand.
Good Friday is this weekend, so if you are trying to plan some activities with the kids, you can check out USS before the Easter Eggstravaganza is gone! I also strongly suggest that you buy your USS tickets online first to skip those queues at the ticketing counter. You can just flash your e-ticket on your mobile device to gain entry. Easy peasy.
Just a reminder that it is your last weekend to catch this Easter event! And, here’s how we spend our day in Universal Studios.
First stop is Sci-Fi City.
We hung around in Sci-Fi City for a long while for obvious reasons. The kids loved their Transformers and wouldn’t leave the area! Am I the only mum that have this problem or is it common across all kids? My kids are such fanatics, we just have to be #1 in the queue for the Transformers Meet & Greet…
And yes, we were crazy enough to queue twice so that we can get another picture with Bumble Bee. In case you don’t know, Transformers meet & greet always starts with Optimus, then Bumblebee will join him for a short while, where you can take pictures with both of them, before Optimus Prime retreats and is left with Bumble Bee. Ideally, the best part is to be in the middle of the queue, but it is really hard to predict who you can take the pictures with because it all depends on the crowds ahead of you and how fast they move.
Jerome was highly distracted because he was so freaked out by them! The husband and me were laughing because while he plays with his Transformer toys on a daily basis and watches them on TV all the time, he tries to wiggle away especially when Optimus tried to shake hands with him. Jerry, was just grouchy. He has become quite the temper throwing kid lately and it is quite hard to catch him in his smiley state.
We caught the Rockafellas performance next to rest our legs a little. My old bones isn’t working well having to chase after the kids the whole morning. Jerry wanted to volunteer to dance when the Gangnam style song came on!
We caught the WaterWorld Show next. I enjoyed the bits where the crew always tease the crowd and make them wet. The husband likes the stunts and the part where the plane flies through. Jerome stood through this, wide-eyed with curiosity and without a single bit of fear. Neither did he get frightened by the loud explosions. He amazed us all really.
We went on to catch some rides. We went on the Dino-Soarin ride as the Canopy Flyer had too long a wait and Jerome didn’t meet the height limit.
We also caught the Seasame Street Spaghetti Space Chase (Jerome wasn’t qualified in terms of height) and it was in a dark room so I didn’t snap any pictures. Jerome did make it to the Madagascar: A Crate Adventure Ride though. He was a little intimidated with the darkness and the huge animals at times.
We caught the Shrek 4-D Adventure where I left Jerome on his own moving seat and 3D glasses, and I held his hand for comfort. He survived through it all and I cannot be more glad! Having to sit on the non-moving seats would have been only 50% of the experience.
I craved for some cotton candy and decided to indulge myself and the kids. While I was letting Jerome have his first taste of cotton candy, the husband and the rest of the kids went on the Enchanted Airways roller coaster ride. I wished Jerome is 3cm taller, because he just missed the height limitation by that little bit! Guess his time will come…
We hopped onto King Julien’s Beach Party-Go-Round carousel ride next and my strange kids just went for the bench instead of the animals. So strange! We tried to persuade them to go on the animals which I feel would have been more fun with it bobbing up and down but they refused to change their mind.
Both kids are pretty stoned by then, having missed their afternoon naps and running a little dry on adrenaline after being energizers for the whole day. We ended the day with a simple dinner at one of the eateries and caught the fireworks. Just in time as we stepped out.
We honestly didn’t do a lot. The adults didn’t even attempt any of the adult rides, but the day couldn’t have ended more perfectly with happy kids, tired adults and a day well spent.
