the jokers

the movie date yesterday was jen was hilarious. we were rushing from the office to vivo for a quick dinner before the movie and most of the restaurants were sprouting long queues.

we came to this thai restaurant with no queue and a big poster that says 15% off for standard chartered card members.

j: do you have standchart card?
c: have.. but err.. only debit, but you can only eat to a maximum of $50!
j: why?!
c: cos i only have $50 in that account..
j: what?! who on earth only have $50 dollars in their account?

hahaha.. ok. to clarify.. that’s a account created so that i could link my e-saver account for easy access. it’s not meant for anything else.. so instead of the $1 that the bankers suggested that i put, i already had $49 more in there!

anyway, we still decided to hop in and eat. while looking at the menu..

j: eh. i want to drink tom yam soup. shall we order the 3-4 person portion?
c: what?! can finish a not?! it comes in a pot eh!
j: can lah. i only feel like drinking tom yam soup.

we checked with the server and he said 6 small bowls of soup. and we said, ok lah. we will order that.

when then soup came, the table beside stared at us like we were MAD. the serving was definitely more than 6 bowls!! and the server was laughing at us each him he walked past.

c: 2 plates of white rice?
j: eh.. i want to eat pineapple rice!
c: u sure?! ok lor..

(in my mind i was busy calculating the $50 mark in order to enjoy the discount.. $29.90 tom yam + 10.90 vege + 10.90 pineapple rice)

turns out.. the pineapple rice came with raisins inside and my DEAR jennifer don’t eat raisins! i had to go through all the grains and pick up the raisins for her.. but she only ate a few mouthful..

*stares at jen*

anyway, we had 2 other friends who were watching the premier at a later timing who decided to join us for dinner.. so she’s saved from the agony of finishing the entire pot of tom yam soup!

i know it’s quite silly.. because we would end up paying for the dinner if it exceeds the $50 mark anyway but i just thought we were equally desperate for that discount. hahaha. and i guess it’s fun just laughing at our silly selves in our daily life.

anyway, haven’t been putting up pictures.. so here’s some to share..

omg. i look fat in the last picture! :S

Hi there! Thanks for popping by. I'm Cherie, a ftwm (full-time working mum) to 3 lovely kids (2 boys & a princess) and my motto in life is to BE HAPPY. Sure, life isn't all that smooth but it's the mentality that counts, no? This blog documents my life. Or rather, snippets of my life that has passed me by. I love capturing life memories in the blog and being able to read back and laugh at myself (or anyone). I love to eat (A LOT), travel and paint my own nails so the blog is mostly about that. Is that considered lifestyle? Of cos, the family is also very much an integral part of me so there would be loads of memories about the husband and my kids - Jerry (9yo), Jerome (7yo) and Leia (2.5yo) and everyone else that's close to me. I like documenting the kids' milestones, their growing up years, their achievements (and sometimes, mine), and my struggles and battles with motherhood. It sure ain't easy. I love seeking out good food and travelling, is trigger-happy, love new gadgets, love exploring new places and strives to live life to the fullest. I aspire to travel the world as much as I can, to soak in the different sights across the various continents and visit all the Disneylands in the world (almost there!). Have fun reading and do drop me a comment to say hi! Love, Cherie Lim Find me on Instagram.
