8 Crabs Seafood Kitchen – Get delicious Chilli Crabs delivered to your door.

Confession: I really love my seafood and it’s hard for me to choose between eating crabs, oysters, clams, cockles, fishes or lobsters. But truth is, I haven’t eaten a crab in a long time… So long, I don’t remember the last. Crabs require a bit more effort/time to eat and hands are often dripping with sauces. Mix that with being mum of 3 constantly needing to clean up after some kid, it’s little wonder why I haven’t been eating. Until my discovery of crabs delivery during circuit breaker period. Imagine having restaurant-grade crabs in the comfort of my home and having all the time to eat.

Yummy feast from 8 Crabs Seafood Kitchen

8 Crabs Seafood Kitchen serves a wide range of menu items ranging from a variety of seafood, meat dishes as well as vegetables, egg and tofu. They also serve noodles and rice. I have a tough time trying to decide what to order for the family but eventually decided on the ever-popular Chilli Crab (XL size), fried mantou to savour the sauce, prawn paste chicken, claypot tofu and stir-fry kailan.

Guess what? Before I can gather the kids and get them to prep for dinner, my princess is already in front of the food, grabbed a chicken wing in her hand and savouring it already! She went on and grab a few more and a mantou thereafter, much to the horror of my boys.

We all enjoyed the food and the mantous were gone in a flash. I only managed to eat one. My absolute favourite amongst all is of course, the chilli crab. It came with a generous amount of sauce (almost half the container), and the sauce was really yummy! It came in a perfect consistency, and had a good balance between tasting sweet and spicy. Even my helper who doesn’t take seafood says the sauce is good. I also regretted not ordering 3 servings of mantous for the fam. It wasn’t enough! We couldn’t finish the sauce and so I popped it into the freezer with the intention to make pasta another day.

Look at the size of that crab pincer!

I’ve ordered the XL sized crabs and it’s huge. The crabs comes in XXL too! The pincer is almost the same size as my hand (no, I don’t have small hands by the way) and I think it’s probably the biggest pincer that I have eaten in my life thus far. It was juicy and packed with loads of firm meat. But you know what? Pincers aren’t my favourite part of the crab (though it is a lot of people’s favourite).

Comparing the Crab Pincer to my hand

I actually like to eat the crab’s body more (specifically, the jumbo lump) and the meat there is nicer, softer and a lot more delicate. And it is also the most premium (or expensive) part of the crab. If you are an expert in eating crab, you can pull it out like a mini drumstick. Hmmm… typing this is making me salivate and thinking about eating crabs again.

Mummy and daughter enjoying crabs
See how big the crab is to my face.

Look at the satisfied look on Leia’s face. She’s so happy with the chicken wing in her hand. As for me, I’m just happy to be left alone to savour my crab in peace.. and licking my fingers clean. Tells you how much I enjoyed my crab. My boys aren’t a fan of crabs (they found it too troublesome to eat) so I got to share it only with the husband!

Der savouring chiili crab
Happy man eating the crabs. Please excuse his half naked body. Totally forgot to ask him to wear a top because we were just too excited to eat!

The crabs is available in 3 different flavours – chilli, black pepper and salted egg. The husband and me were struggling on which to order vs over-ordering (were thinking of getting 2 crabs in different flavours) and eventually settled for just chilli crab. But, I’m so gonna try the salted egg next! Such a pity they don’t have crab bee hoon on their menu. That’s something I really liked as well. The rest of the dishes are pretty alright, similar to the usual zi-char stall quality (price range about the same too). I would have preferred the prawn paste chicken to be a little more strong tasting (personal preference here) though.

8 Crabs claims that they use AAA Graded Sri Lanka wild caught crabs graded by the best crab graders in Sri Lanka, and are air flown daily into Singapore. They are also the only company in Singapore that uses AAA graded crabs and it is supposed to be bigger and meatier. I did try and google about crab grading just to understand it better but there isn’t much information on this though. What I have found is that size does matter and 8 Crabs crabs are definitely big for sure. They also have a one driver to an order policy across 12 kitchens island-wide so it gets to you within 1 hr. You can also read about 8 Crabs signature fresh crabs and their crab processing if you want to find out more.

If you are craving for crabs after reading this post, do hop over to their website and give them a try. They offer crab delivery in just 1 hr as well so it’s never too late to order! $18 delivery fee applies though. If you love to cook your own crabs, they are also offering live crab delivery for a limited time period. You’re welcome for all that information.

And oh, totally random question but one I am very interested to know. Where do you think serve the best crab in Singapore? Specifically, one with the best chilli crab sauce? I used to have a personal favourite where I always go to. Leave me a comment or drop me a DM on my IG! I’ll love to know what you think!

Disclaimer: I received a food voucher in exchange for my honest review on the 8 Crabs and all thoughts and opinions are of my own.

Hi there! Thanks for popping by. I'm Cherie, a ftwm (full-time working mum) to 3 lovely kids (2 boys & a princess) and my motto in life is to BE HAPPY. Sure, life isn't all that smooth but it's the mentality that counts, no? This blog documents my life. Or rather, snippets of my life that has passed me by. I love capturing life memories in the blog and being able to read back and laugh at myself (or anyone). I love to eat (A LOT), travel and paint my own nails so the blog is mostly about that. Is that considered lifestyle? Of cos, the family is also very much an integral part of me so there would be loads of memories about the husband and my kids - Jerry (9yo), Jerome (7yo) and Leia (2.5yo) and everyone else that's close to me. I like documenting the kids' milestones, their growing up years, their achievements (and sometimes, mine), and my struggles and battles with motherhood. It sure ain't easy. I love seeking out good food and travelling, is trigger-happy, love new gadgets, love exploring new places and strives to live life to the fullest. I aspire to travel the world as much as I can, to soak in the different sights across the various continents and visit all the Disneylands in the world (almost there!). Have fun reading and do drop me a comment to say hi! Love, Cherie Lim Find me on Instagram.
