My 3yo & Chinese Chess.
Jerry pulled out my chinese chess set from my cupboard that’s filled with loads of card and board games 3 nights ago. And he bugged me for more than 15 mins to play it with him. Just how do you play Chinese chess with a 3yo? A game that involves recognising the different characters, the various moves each make and the strategy behind the game? And he, for now, someone that can’t even recognise a single Chinese character yet? I tried explaining that the game is too difficult, and that its really meant for papa & mama but he wouldn’t take no for an answer and kept telling me, “Play…

Things Jerry Says #24 – X.silly’s 6th Birthday
Here’s a secret I am going to share. A silly one. Der & I buy cakes to celebrate x.silly‘s birthday every year. It has been something that we have been doing ever since Der gifted me with x.silly. I think I shared before, but I can’t find any blog post on it. And yup, we love being silly like that. So this year, it is the same. I bought a cake and Der happened to give me a ride home from the train station that day with the kids in tow. Jerry spied my bag cautiously.. Jerry (J): Mummy, what are you holding? Mummy (M): It’s a cake for x.silly. J:…

Where we stay in Bangkok – Tune Hotel
I am going to share about Tune Hotel, Asoke today. It is the hotel that I stayed in during my recent family trip to Bangkok, Thailand. I have stayed in quite a few hotels in Bangkok, but mostly the full service, more expensive hotels. Not because I am atas okay. Some trips’ accommodation were not booked by me. Other times, it was mostly to suit everyone’s expectations and requests. I’m easy when it comes to hotels on travel trips. I can accept anything that comes with a decent bed and toilet in the room! Com’on. I usually don’t spend a lot of time in the hotel when I am overseas anyway.…

The Choos goes to Bangkok on AirAsia!
Its my 2nd trip to Bangkok this year (first bkk trip here), but I cannot be more excited. Because, I am lugging with me 2 Bangkok virgins! Can you believe it? Der has NEVER stepped foot into Bangkok ever, and of cos not Jerry. So I was super excited to show them around. It’s been a while since Jerry took a plane too. His last trip was to Hong Kong, and that was when Jerome was still in my stomach! We haven’t been travelling much with 2 kids at all. Truth is, its really not easy trying to handle 2 toddlers with just us two…(at their age!). The husband can…

Jerry goes KidZania Bangkok!
We just came back from Bangkok, and the highlight of which is bringing Jerry to KidZania. I unfortunately fell prey to food poisoning after I got back and spent the whole the last 2 days in bed, totally weak and in extreme agony. Funny how I was okay with all the street food, but on the last day, I ate in restaurants and fast food and I fell sick from that! I am suspecting that particular sushi joint that I ate in. Anyhow, back to KidZania Bangkok. Do you know that it is one of the 2 KidZanias nearest to Singapore? The other one is in Kuala Lumpur. If you…

Our Deepavali Holiday.
How did you spend the mid week pubic holiday last week? We had wanted to bring the boys for some cycling but the clouds were grey and it started pouring even before we reached the park after our lunch. It rained pretty bad and we knew that there is no way we could wait out the rain. As we were driving on the ECP, the next destination that came to my mind was Changi Airport! I love big spaces where the kids can run, and I especially love changi airport because I used to love watching airplanes take off from the viewing gallery when I was a kid, so I…

A day at the zoo!
We haven’t visited the Singapore Zoological Gardens for a while, and when we got the memo that Jerry’s school has an outing, I made the husband take leave with me to attend the session. After all, daddy’s gotta be involved too right? (p.s. I didn’t realise that monday was a PH then and we accidentally clocked in a super long weekend!) Jerry was super excited on the school bus. He wasn’t all the usual grumpy him when he told him we are going to the zoo! He must have thought it was a super happy day that daddy and mummy are coming along with him. It was a half day…

Cycling at East Coast Park!
It’s been a long time since, but we finally did it! The husband & I made it back to East Coast Park for some outdoorsy fun, along with the kids. To think we used to blade there very often, pre-kids. I have been wanting to go, but there was never a good chance – kid too young, preggers, 2nd kid too young etc. Now that they both are running and climbing all over, and Jerome can understand some bits of instruction… there is so much we can start doing! Can you tell that I was A LOT more excited than the kids? Nooooooo… the kids were both equally excited, but…

Because family matters more.
Last Monday, I took urgent leave and made a last minute trip to Malaysia to visit my grandpa. You know how we always give ourselves the excuse that we will visit someone when we have the time but the time never come before it is too late? I don’t want that to ever happen to me again ever since my maternal grandma passed away 2 years back. So, I had to skip a training at work and brought the entire family on a road trip to visit my grandpa. After all, he is turning a century old next year. The stars aligned that day and my uncles and aunty were going to be there…

A visit to Mainland Tropical Fish Farm in Pasir Ris.
I recently discovered that Jerry has a love for fishes. I think his first few interactions with live fishes (not those we put on the table) are from the koi pond in his favourite uncle’s house (a relative’s place). They used to have a huge koi pond beneath their balcony and Jerry gets to catch the small fishes with a small net. They have since renovated their house and had the koi pond removed and Jerry has been asking for fishes every single time we are there. So last week, after a somewhat packed saturday (cooking class in the morning, family photo shoot at noon and a workshop in the…
