• Happy Chinese New Year!

Here’s wishing you a Happy Chinese New Year from my family to yours! I know this should have been done like 8 days ago, but I have been diligent.. Diligent in spending time with the family, connecting with the people that matter. Spending time with myself, doing the things I enjoy most. Diligent in letting some things go, chill, sit back and really relax. And, sleep early. It’s hasn’t been easy, making a  deliberate change to my lifestyle and not touch my computer that much. But can I share that it has been liberating? I have done so much in the past few weeks that I suddenly feel like I…

  • Because family matters more.

Last Monday, I took urgent leave and made a last minute trip to Malaysia to visit my grandpa. You know how we always give ourselves the excuse that we will visit someone when we have the time but the time never come before it is too late? I don’t want that to ever happen to me again ever since my maternal grandma passed away 2 years back. So, I had to skip a training at work and brought the entire family on a road trip to visit my grandpa. After all, he is turning a century old next year. The stars aligned that day and my uncles and aunty were going to be there…

  • malaysia, truly asia!

the best thing about my break last week was not the HK trip. it was the 4 days spent at my grandpa’s place. so funny huh? i guess the hk trip was too rushed in some sense, too short, too tired from all the traveling that’s prior to it and everyone is just so tired to begin with. the msia part was refreshing because it was a lot of peace for me, quiet surroundings and it made me think about things that i never have the time to ponder about in the hectic lives that we lead. well, at least i made an observation. do you think ants are social…

  • the weekend (part 3)

sunday started for me way before the sun was up. at 5am, i was staring into the ceiling of my room and hearing the household stirring and my mum knocking on my door at 5.30am. we planned a visit to my grandpa’s house (yes, again!) since last week when mum and brother was there, grandpa had an accident with the new car. i guess the change from some 70+ years of driving a manual car makes it hard to change his driving habits to adapt to an auto car. while a brand new car was crashed, we were more concerned with grandpa so we decided to visit again to provide…

  • what is wrong with me?

i had a painful long weekend. as i sit on the 50 year old sofa at my grandpa’s place in renggam, i am wondering how much more “torture” i have to endure before heading back to singapore. don’t get me wrong. being here isn’t a torture and it was a choice that i made. it’s just that i am battling with this pain somewhere in my torso that hurts badly with every single movement i make and every breath i take. it started with a strain in my back, and i thought it was just a backache or a strain while i did my exercises.. but it just developed into…

  • im feelng a little hungry..

hmm.. am feeling a little bored right now while everyone else is downstairs BBQ-ing. decided not to join the crowd cos the indian “strangers” are annoying the hell outta me, intruding into our bbq affair and grabbing food to eat! so much so that i didn’t even get to taste a single stick of that satay cos i was upstairs clearing out my full memory card in order to take more pictures. Grrr.. still, here’s some pictures for the day. I am running out of inspiration on taking pictures of the same place over and over again. by the way, it’s a rainy gloomy day here and lighting aint fantastic.…

  • the clock strike 12am

Hmmm.. the clock struck 12am a while ago.. just 15 mins later, most are in bed and snoring away. this is a stark difference from the days when i run around and excitedly lit fire crackers. even the atmosphere in the neighbourhood is quieter. have people grown and moved out? the noisy level is almost at a standstill and only the whirling of the ceiling fan can be heard. chinese new year this year festive mood seems to be lacking. i’m sure im not the only person that feels that way.. the usual dvd shopping, movies marathon didn’t happen this year. the only interesting thing was this new gadget Wii.…

  • updates from rengam (M-land)

these days, i hardly had the time to seriously sit down and breathe properly. it’s a mad rush everywhere, trying to get work done, coordinating my life, trying to manage everything and clean up my room, do last minute shopping for CNY clothes (ok, dont remind me about the big luggage brimming with shopping items that just arrived yesterday from seattle), and trying to meet all my friends before the new year. last night, just barely an hr after i got home.. i zipped out of the house, journeying to my grandpa’s place in the middle of the night. in that single hour i was home, i had to unpack…
