• Tooth Fairy writes a note for Jerry

    Jerry & the Tooth Fairy

9 May 2017, Tuesday, 10.30pm. Jerry lost his first tooth ever. It has been shaky for weeks and his new teeth has been peeking beside the baby tooth for a while. We were still wondering if he was going to have his birthday pictures toothless some weeks back. I was secretly glad that the tooth didn’t come off before his birthday although the tooth obviously shifted its position and looked totally out of place. The kid has been complaining about chewing certain stuff that is too tough and have rejected eating some foods because it hurts. Last night, the kid showed me his super wobbly tooth.. and I could tell…

Things Jerry says #4 – the power of negotiation.

Things Jerry says: The negotiator I can’t emphasise how much this kid amaze me all the time. I know that I said it many many times, but I guess I still need to say it mainly because I am so proud of him (or annoyed!) and it is a moment worth recording down. And mummies are always proud of their little one, however small an achievement because to us, they mean the world. A couple of days ago, this kid isn’t on the best of behaviour. He refused to comply to any instruction and we were rushing out of the house for a party.  I needed him to sit in…

  • Thomas & Friends – Jerry knows his trains!

Ok. I’m guilty as a mum for exposing him to TOO MUCH thomas & friends. DVDs, VCDs, toys, books, bags, water bottle, cookery and the works, but it’s always about thomas thomas thomas (since he is the lead character). so a couple of days back, i bought a few more thomas and friends book for jerry, mainly for bedtime reading and i was really surprised when he pointing at the square train and went…. “Toby!”. I never heard him say “toby” before this even though i have ever read and pointed “toby” to him from another book. and i just had to quiz him! he really amazed me when he…

  • a pleasant surprise from jerry.

I havent read a book to jerry for ages. my bad. other priorities got the better of me. i tried to show him a new book tonight but he went to his book shelf and pulled this out instead. yes. he likes to choose his own books and this is, afterall one of the newer books in his little library.    so here’s my surprise. I started pointing out the animals one by one and asked.. “what is this?” across each item on the book cover.   and he went… dog!horse! cat!house!bird!(when I point to the hive) bee!spider! sun!flower!   and im stumped.  I definitely had not expected that he’ll…

  • fitting in, at childcare for Jerry.

its been a month since jerry started childcare. I went to peep at him on Friday and was happy to see that he is finally blending/fitting in at childcare. from the kid that is always away from the pack and in his own world, he is now able to sit with his classmates and join in the class activities.   I am soooo proud of him! it might have been a mighty small achievement but it means so much to me. to us, as the parents.  and to him, as a child adapting into a new environment.   as I was leaving the premises, I bumped into his class teacher…

  • Jerry feeds himself breakfast in school!

finally, Jerry survives a week in childcare! this morning, the husband dropped him at the door and he wailed for about 30 secs before recovering himself, and all is good thereafter. we cannot be more proud. When i picked him up in the evening, the teacher updated me that there was no tears when he woke up from his nap, but he, as usual napped for a much shorter period than his peers. all is good. I am going to extend his timing and pick him up at 6pm from next week onwards. ending this post with a video i took on wednesday where jerry feeds himself breakfast! Have a…

  • Jerry’s first day of school/childcare!

Today is such a momentous day. It marks jerry’s first day of school/childcare. It is also an extremely emotional day for me, which I hadn’t expected I would feel this way. Come to think of it, I spent quite a bit of effort in prepping for his big day, from putting him on wait list, to bugging the schools in giving me a slot, to getting all the enrollment papers done, buying his uniform, his school bag, buying new toiletries/towels etc to be used in the school, ironing on his name labels on everything to packing his bag last night. It was a tedious process, but nothing quite prepared me…

  • mummy’s notes

in case you are wondering why my blog posts are irregular and mostly at weird timings, its because i cannot find enough pockets of time to write a decent blog post unless the kids are asleep. or, when i am letting jerry have a little tub play like above.. which is what is happening RIGHT NOW.   he just had a haircut and he was rather well behaved so i thought i’ll reward him with some water play (or rather, myself since im using the time to blog).   i wanted to start jotting down notes about our kids, things that happened or developments that i noticed.. mostly for the…

  • jerry turns 22 months!

almost one week ago, jerry turned 22 months! i crafted an entry much earlier but didnt find the chance to post it..and then i realised i lost the entry (disappeared into thin air on my phone) so im trying to very hard to recall what i wrote earlier.   im just gonna jot down the key improvements in the past month this time round since its getting really hard to differentiate the difference between the months in terms of growth.   the first thing that is new about him is his role as a big brother. jerry has been really good with his little brother. he has been the really…

  • an update on the kids and me.

since the birth of Jerome, life has pretty much been a blur for me. feeding, burping, sleeping, expressing milk, bottle washing, and the likes. I havent have had much energy for anything else really. I remember being very sleep deprived when I had Jerry, with me expressing milk every 2-3 hours. this time round, I have been super lax in this area, expressing only every 4-6hrs.and am in the midst of trying to stretch it longer, but I am equally tired, if not more.   in the last 3 weeks, Jerry also turned 21 months old. the bringing of Jerome home didn’t quite affect Jerry. i guessed it helps that…
